I honestly think these will both be close matches.
Both of these matches have occurred twice, and only on hardcourts. Berdych is 1 and 1 with Haas. Stepanek is 1 and 1 with Ferrero.
Looking at previous results, if ANYONE has the edge, it's Ferrero and Haas. I don't see the logic in your post...
EDIT: With Haas and Berdych, Berdych won on clay, and Haas won on hardcourt.

Just wondering, why did Ferero fall so much in the rankings; he used to be a consistent top ten player.

What'd I tell you. These 2 matches were about as close as they could possibly be.

I was going on what I consider current ability of the players. Berdych and Stephanek are just plain better than Haas and Ferrero at this point. I really didn't look into it that much. I thought Haas would get beaten easily like he did against Djokovic at the French. Also, Ferrero has played badly against players with higher rankings than him as of late. As it turns out, we were both right in a sense. You correctly predicted that the matches would be close, while I picked both outcomes correctly. I was honestly surprised the matches were so close.
