Help with the pros pro mt 400 machine

Still not sure what hole you’re talking about or what tools you have. If you have a good starting clamp I would use one method and if not another.

Did you remove the linear gripper from the machine?

Put it back on. The string is placed in the gap between the 2 sliding plates with the plates back as far from the diablo as possible. When tension is pulled the plates slide forward and close on the string to pull it.

Put the device back on. The string comes out of the racquet and is wrapped around the diabolo once. Then the string is placed between the plates of the linear gripper. The plates will close to hold the string as tension mechanism moves back. The diabolo is there to make sure the string goes into the linear gripper in a straight line and not at an angle. In no way does the string go thru any holes except those of the tennis racquet to the tension head.

The plates in the gripper sometime slide forward and stick. When the plates slide forward they close and you won't be able to get the string between the plates. Sounds like you need to determine why the are not releasing.

Yes, I had to cut the string because it got stuck in the gripper. Does this gripper look like this with you?
On the one hand it has a metal insert and on the other it is missing

I have the very same machine, it is a very good quality product, and particularly its new linear pull tension head (top of the line model from Pro’s Pro).
I am also new to stringing, only strung about 12-15 racquets so far, but really never had any issues and actually fail to understand what exactly happened with your gripper jaws and how possibly the string could stuck in there?
You just need to place the string between the two plates (jaws) and very gently push the back of the plates forward. The inside parts of the plates are diamond dusted, so they quickly grab and hold the string while the tension head pulls it to the desired tension. To release the string after clamping it, just press the button right next to the gripper.
Maybe its best for yout to bring the machine to the Pro’s Pro service center, I hope you didn‘t damage the head while dismantling it.

It sounds as if the ball bearings have fallen out on 1 or both sides. Can you see them? If you can, maybe they just need oiled.

Yes, the full model name is TOMCAT MT-400. It’s advertised as Pro’s Pro top of the line, “heavy duty” model, but I would certainly not dare to put it in the same league with models from Yonex, Wilson, Babolat, Tecnifibre etc.
A friend of mine who is a very reputable stringer (he strings for many ATP players) owns a Babolat Star 5, and he told me that in terms of feature set TOMCAT MT-400 doesn’t lack absolutely anything - it has six mountnig points, diamond dusted clamps with auto-unlock function, diamond dusted gripper plates, digitally adjustable linear pull mechanism, adjustable pulling speeds, adjustable knot function, memory for frequently used tensions, etc.
I complemented it with a Babolat Stringing Tools case and I am very happy with it so far.
Thank you Sir - can I ask where you purchased it from? Can I please also ask what is the measurement for the base as I’d like to look for a bench (probably with wheels) for it. Is it heavy? Thank you again

A friend of mine imported it for me from Pro's Pro headquarters in Austria, together with an original Pro's Pro stand (although the machine can be used as table-top). The height of the stand is adjustable (height adjustment knob), but I didn't change the default factory height, as it suits me just fine.
At the moment, I am away from home but I will measure it and post the dimensions here.
EDIT: Yes, both the stringer and the stand are very heavy.

thanks to @Ares2323 & @Dragan for this thread -it promoted me to look into a new stringer with electronic head more.
ordered the Tomcat this Monday afternoon and it was delivered to the UK this afternoon.
i have ordered other bits and pieces, but they are still to come, guess the stringer and other bits comes from different locations.
it is Father's day weekend, so good timing - might get both girls involved tomorrow to help me to build this bad boy.
now i just need to look for a some sort of "bench/table" with lockable caster wheels, so I can move this around.

Thanks dude. Not assembled it yet. Still in the box. But I can tell ya that I wouldn’t have clue if the PP base clamp would fit the Gamma as my Gamma has floating clamps... lol

How is the Tomcat treating you guys so far?
The gripper plates need to grip the string without slipping. Not sure how to factory reset. There are service functions in the hidden menu that they don’t want us messing with. Best to contact wherever u bought yours from. Pro’s pro wouldn’t answer my questions since I didn’t buy it from them.
