I subscribe to both sites. Both are EXCELLENT!

I love tennisplayer for the HUGE library of pro clips. Great stuff! The articles are excellent as well. It is a tremendous tennis resource.

I would suggest hitechtennis over tennisplayer because hitech is THAT good. The videos are AWESOME! :D The instruction (all by one guy) is nothing short of brilliant. You can also send him video of your strokes and he will analyze it and compare it to a pro. It's really an amazing deal. I also like how he will suggest other good tennis resources (like tennisplayer or tennis guru's DVDs). He does an amazing job of showing the intricacies of professional strokes, from the takeback to the followthough. The site is extremely well organized as well. You will learn how pros hit the ball with that loud "pop" sound, the secret of suprination, and so much more. I could go on forever. It's a great site!:-D

I would seriously consider joining both, because hitech is such a good deal (VERY inexpensive for the amazing insights you will get).

KTE89,

Thanks for the incredible review of hi-techtennis. I have put so much energy and time and passion into the site, and it's just amazing to get a review like yours. You made my day.

To add to your points, not only am I a member of tennisplayer.net, but I write for the site as well! Hi-techtennis was inspired by John Yandell and the groundbreaking work he began several years ago. John came onto the tennis instruction scene several years ago with his video camera and insight into visual learning and literally changed tennis instruction forever. All the great tennis sites on the scene now, from TennisOne to Virtual Tennis Academy to EasiTennis to my site are here because of John's vision many years ago. And many cherised ideas of tennis instruction (the backscratch on the serve, the wrist snap on the serve and forehand, etc) have been (thankfully!) debunked due to John's video footage and his incredible ability to make sense of the footage. He even has invented terms that are part of our tennis vocabulary now (double bend forehand).

As for tennisplayer, the membership comes down to about 8 dollars a month. For that price you get 10,000 of the most incredible videos imaginable. The quality of writers is just scary - from the great Robert Lansdorp to Nick Bollitieri. All the seminal "Myth" articles John published are there, which should be required reading for anyone in this business. And there are just a ton of fun things you will discover, from rocking tennis videos set to music all the way to a forum where we discuss the latest and greatest ideas. And if you join, you have to check out the high speed footage of Federer. It's like poetry.

So to conclude...join both!

Jeff

Hi Jeff, I decided to join Hi-Techtennis for now, maybe I'll join tennis player later on. For now I'm fully satisfied with what I saw and can't wait to put all this in practice. For now I'm reading on the forehand as someday it can be a great weapon an the next day my biggest weakness.

For what I saw right now, I'm wristy and my takeback is much more compact then when you suggest (no loop-no rythm).

I'm going back on reading.

Great! It's nice to get some height on the takeback. It makes it easier to develop rhythm and makes it a lot easier to hit balls higher in the strike zone.

As for the wrist, check out the latest footage I put up of Ferrero (the quicktime versions). You can see he has almost no wrist movement at all. The result is an incredibly solid contact. You can really hear the ball pop off his racket.

I've always been told that compact takeback (ala Agassi, also thought in that forehand video from James Jenson) is easier on the timing.

Anyway, I'll try your ideas tomorrow as I have a 2 hour match (I play betwen 10-12 hours/week). I also have a ball machine so I'll have plenty of time to all set this up.

I'm reading the windshield wiper part right now....

I tried some shadow tennis.... it feels strange to hold the wrist back. I guess that if you it the ball not far enough in front of you the ball will go straight to the floor?
