journeymen like nadal, djokovic, and istomin are bound to lose focus for a few points and games against rising 4.0's and 4.5's
Especially if it's a low bouncing court like O2, or its been raining heavily and Rafa can't get his topspin to kick over the Empire State Building, even a nobody who picked up a racquet just yesterday could verily bagel poor Nadal !

Well today I played a 17 year old complete novice.

He has never, ever played the game before, but is a highly ranked Junior table tennis player.

Yes beat him 6-0 after about a half hour warm up.

The total points in the set were 4 points from memory,3 of which were in the first game.

He had pretty awful technique actually, but improved heaps after playing for one and a half hours in total and seemed to love the game too.

He surprised me in the first game with his mis-hits and lack of power that I failed to pick.

So by my thinking,I can get a lot more than 4 points off a top ATP player considering I can execute the stroke a lot more consistent than a complete beginner!

I remember the former football European Champions,Red Star of Belgrade came to Australia for a tour a month after winning the trophy.

They played against a local State team made up of players training twice a week, getting paid a pittance.

The score? A narrow 1-0 win for Red Star. Not much in it once you can play the game to a good level.

Nadal or a RF may beat a 4.5 or 5.0 badly to the tune of a few points per set on a certain day,but on another day can lose games for sure.
