How to compare different types of strings

I've decided to try and get away from Problend in a 78 stiffness racket, mostly because as I've gotten more tennis-fit and am swinging harder, when I mis-hit it is VERY jarring.

I've gone to the opposite end of the spectrum and have tried NXT OS, and it has been pretty much exactly the feel I don't like. It lost quite a bit of tension and now is very springy, mushy, and trampoline-like. I can still play with it, but it is strongly not my preference.

I want to try and replicate the feel of Problend but end up with a stringbed that isn't so jarring when I hit off-center. From the USRSA site, I've read that the Problend results in a stringbed stiffness of 981 lbs/in, I'm assuming at the standard reference tension for measuring this. If I choose a string with a stringbed stiffness of, say, 500 lbs/in, is there some rule of thumb or formula that I can use to calculate what tension will result in a stringbed stiffness of 700 lbs/in, or 900 lbs/in? Does this rule of thumb or formula apply to all strings or only some strings since their stiffness doesn't increase linearly with tension as a whole?

Thanks.

Well in my other thread I suggested the Prince Tourblend. Having hit with both the problend and the tourblend I would definitely go tourblend. It is easier on the arm and subjectively feels similar. If you want some thing even more arm friendly you would have to go straight gut or multi.

Thanks. I am going to go with something softer than the 16 gauge Problend (well, that's not saying anything because EVERYTHING is softer than the 16 gauge Problend) but I guess I'm wondering if there is a way of saying, based on the USRSA stats on stringbed stiffness, that: "a 10% increase in string tension results in a 10% increase in stringbed stiffness". My reason is that I've now used a 1000 lb/in stiffness string and a 200 lb/inch string, and rather than install another string job only to have to cut it out like the NXT OS, I'm looking for something around 700 lb/in, but want to use something the USRSA says is 500 lb/in. So, what tension should I use to get to the 700 lb/in level of stringbed stiffness?

If I join the USRSA (which I probably will soon), will one of their techs be able to answer this sort of question?
