Hybrids for LM Prestige MP

Hello, I am a junior player, 4.0 all courter with a LM Prestige MP. SW FH and 1H BH

My current string is Babolat Pro Hurricane 17 @ 58.
I am looking for "the feel of the spin applied" to the ball when it's hit.. (anybody know what I'm talking about?) and basically more depth.
and I was wondering which hybrid combinations or any combination (full or hybrid )would be a good start.
(I have never played with a hybrid setup before)

Strings that I have used:
Prince Duraflex 16 @62
Head Rip Control 17 @62, @60/62
Luxilon BB Ace 18 @55
Babolat Pro Hurricane 17 @58
Wilson NXT Max 16 @57

Any other recommendations for both strings and tension for the LM Prestige MP would be very helpful.

Thank you very much.

in that frame, I would not use a poly string..the difference is night and day...poly will rob that racquet of feel and power. I'd go with a thin soft string. You should definitely at least try once a hybrid of BDE Performance 17 mains/Gosen OG Sheep Micro 17 crosses...String it a few pounds higher than you would with Pro Hurricane though.

Well, feel is in the eye of the beholder. I have used the LM Prestige MP for two years now and use a full ALU string job at 61/58. I have used all gut (I don't like it as it gives me too much power and I can't control it) and hybrid of gut/alu and alu/gut. I still like the full poly with a flexy stick. However, as the people I play can tell you, touch is not my strong point. If I am on, I just stand back and hit the ball as hard as I can. THe ALU keeps in on the court. Good spin. I don't think you will get "more" spin with strings other than Huricain in mains and crosses.

Of course gut will give you more power...just string it tighter. I string gut about 2-4 lbs. higher than the tension using a basic synthetic gut like Prince S.G. to get similar power level. I'd string a basic synthetic gut about 2-4 lbs. higher than somthing like Pro Hurricane 17. So if you string at 58 lbs with Pro Hurricane, I'd at least try the BDE hybrid I suggested at, say, 62-64 lbs. Of course if you're the kind of player that just stands at the basleine and hits the ball as hard as they can all the time, it probably doesn't matter too much what string you use, as long as it lasts long enough.

what i just put in was timo 18 (55) x nrg2 16 (55) AND IT IS REALLY SWEET. I get tons more spin with an 18g in the mains. It gets a very nice feel and power from the nrg2 and really good feel and control from the timo. it is alos pretty comfortable because the mushy crosses soften up the stiff mains. It gives me the perfect amount of power and crispness (plain nrg2 was too mushy and powerful and plain timo was too stiff and didnt have much power)
I suggest it to all lm prestige mp users.

I will be taking your word on this :)
Have you ever tried nrg2 17 gauge instead of 16 gauge on the crosses?
What would be the difference in that would you think?
What about the X1 Biphase for the crosses, have you tried that?

But my question is why would one person say that poly "will rob that racquet of feel and power", then the next person comes up and say that a poly/multi hybrid is great??

@monologuist- are you talking about poly on full stringbed AND on a hybrid or just one??
The BDE hybrid sounds nice, and I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for the suggestions.

@tarheelbornjohn- Can you compare the gut/alu and the alu/gut in how diffrently they played?
I have tried BB Ace 18 and I got more spin than the pro hurricane that I am getting now. It's just so stiff and hurts my arm sometimes.

I try to come up to the net more, but most of the time usually glued to the baseline for some reason. And I usually try to make them come in with short slices then go for the passing shot DTL or behind them. I also like to approach off one of my deep slices and come up to volley.

Oh, I just got my new prestige mp strung with Lux BB Ace 18/ Rip Control 17 @ 53/57, and will be playing with that on friday ( these were the only 2 packs of strings I had left). I will post up if the combination is any good.

Sorry if my replies might sound kind of disrespectful ( I don't think they are ), but if you do, I apologize ahead of time for any misunderstanding.

Thanks again for all the replies.

I've tried the LM Prestige with even one of the softer and more playable polys, Polystar Energy 18, and felt that it robbed the frame of its unique feel. If it is durable enough for you, I'd strongly suggest either the BDE hybrid above or a thin multi like Laserfibre Supreme 17 or Tecnifibre X-One 18.

I would think that the ultimate thing to try would be biphaze 18 in the place of nrg2. Also nrg2 17 may be a bit better but not too much. Actually gut is the ultimate thing to put in the crosses but not all of us are up to the responsibility of taking care of the gut, and i dont want to have to worry about himitidy and temprature and all that crap. So what i would try next would be timo 18 (55) x biphase 18/17 (55). If you try this i am curious how it plays although i have a feeling that it would play exellent in regards to my current combo timo x nrg2 16.

Have you tried a full babolat pro hurricane setup before? I was wondering how the comfort level of the timo hybrid would compare to the comfort level of the pro hurricane. My arm feels pain as I play with the hurricane now.. especially on the serve.

I wouldn't mind taking care of the natural gut if I get it, but I know there are a lot of them and the price range varies. Does the cheaper nat guts play like the more expensive ones??

i have limited experience with gut so i am no expert.
although most would claim vs is the best gut available, some poeple prefer the feel of the value guts (legend, bow, bde, ect.)
preference

also i think that timo strung lower and hybrid with nrg2 is relatively comfortable. The nrg2 really softenst up the timo which is a relatively harsh string. I have never had arm pain, but i dont think that this will give you too much pain. I think timo will though if you string it above 55 so be careful.
