Hypothetical: if Nadals Injurycontinued to hamper him?

As the title suggests if Nadals injury continued to hamper him to the extent it did in the second set should he shake hands or continue. Please feel free to express your opinion. Yes it is a hypothetical question, is it worth him continuing with the level of tennis displayed from when the injury first became obvious to the end of the second set.
My opinion is he should have retired from the match if that was the all he was able to produce for the remainder of the match.

Unless playing could cause your injury to worsen to a serious extent, retiring instead of completing the match would be terrible for the fans and your rep.
