I love the ATP challenger tour

Am I the only on that loves watching the challenger tour players? I found a gem of a matchup, this 18yr old wildcard American won 3 matches to make the semi finals and now plays 80 ranked Jordan Thompson. Who know what the young talent can do? Also I never got to see mackenzie Macdonald play, but saw a great match w/him vs shapovalov. I wish the atp dispersed more $ to challenger tour players though...it's barely enough to cover travel expenses, if that. It's a shame! We need a deeper tour with more players and I hope they make more money and that is changed in the future.

I doubt you are the only one but is there even a legal way to watch them? I have seen a fair bit of challenger matches, they do not differ all that much in quality from a 250 or even 500, but again, not sure how to consistently view them.

side note, do challengers have major equivalents like the juniors? I know a few have big paydays like, I believe, the sunrise challenger in florida.

Biggest ones are 127k euros/150k $ in the following countries : Usa(1), China(2), Uzbekistan(1), France(1), Italy(2), Great Britain(3), Czech Republuc(1), Poland(1), South Korea(1)

I am suprised that the chinese have not "attacked" the Challenger Tour with some big payday tournaments around 300k or even 500k. This way they are guaranteed that most of future great will visit them as youngsters, overall they would become more experienced as a tennis nation and would create a normal routine for players to go to Asia. The later could help them expand the Asian swing in 20 years time or even get a Slam. Right now they are flooding the WTA but there is hardly a doubt that the ATP offers more expansion prospects.

I suppose the ATP is restricting them so that the others tournaments dont lose value but it would be kind of cool for the lower ranked players to have a big chinese Challenger at the end of every month. A lot of money for the players + quality and stacked tournaments.

I always make it a point to go see challengers if I can. I've been to Dallas, Tallahassee, Savannah and quite a few others. Saw Tiafoe play long before all this Next Gen BS marketing started (wasn't impressed, nice guy though). I think its a great experience and you see a lot of heart.

Yo, I love duh challengers. The players are not like Steve Bannon. They're not there to try to suck their own ****. They're just trying to serve the game of tennis.

Fugetaboutit !

Today I went to the Carrasco Lawn Tennis Club in Montevideo to attend my first ATP Challenger, the final featuring Pablo Cuevas.

Unfortunately, tickets ran out when we were behind a dozen people in the line.

So we went to a local bar, but they had cable TV, and the tournament aired on DirecTV.

So no tennis for us today.

Challengers are a good way to watch great tennis at very reasonable prices or even for free. It is also a really good way to see/meet some of the top youngsters before they hit the tour for riches and glory.
