I never thought Id see Nadal on the spot he is right now.

Im a Rafa fan, not hardcore, as others roaming around here, I can appreciate how great Federer really is and I know that, like Pete, I'll cheer him on on the coming years when he's less of a factor on Grand Slams.

Anyways, as a Rafa fan, I never thought I'd see Nadal

1. Winning Wimbledon: I honestly thought that his chance of greatness would only come from Roland Garros, maybe he could squeeze one AUSOPEN, but the other two were just too hard. Then he spanked Agassi on Wimby 06, and started reaching the final, where he gave us that thriller 5 setter on 2007, and now hes won not once, but twice already, and now I see a couple more coming.

2. Becoming the No 1 player: With Federer around, I didnt see Rafa overtaking it. I thought if RAfa was gonna be the NO. 1 player, it was when Fed was either at the end of his career or when he was retired. Even then, I saw the younger bigger guys possibly overtaking Rafa. But nope, Nadal has proven that he can not only reach No. 1, but reach No. 1, loose it and re take it once again, winning other GS besides the French.

3. Win the US Open: I thought it was an almost impossible task, because of the type of game he has (had) and the type of game the real hard court players who were beating him had.

Luck has nothing to do with winning a GS, he worked on his game and Im sure he will continue to do so. The way he has improved his forehand, possibly the best one on tour now, and specially, lately, his serve, shows his commitment to improve and that he wants to be the best.

Im a believer now, that he can ACTUALLY be the Greatest Of All Time.

Time will tell, but, be the greatest or not, he's now a part of a very very select group of greatness. Long live King Rafael.

Like all of his career, it will probably come down to fitness. For years people have been saying his injuries will catch up with him, but it's never really happened.

When Federer was winning everything Nadal was always there as a huge threat, Nadal doesn't really have anyone there to stop him and I can't see that changing. Murray will probably be a big threat to him at the hard court majors, but on grass and clay he's pretty much got a free run at it for the foreseeable future.

I'm not a fan of his game personally, but it's still interesting to see him have a crack at becoming the greatest.

You should be banned for posting a stupid title like that. Aren't there any moderators that can ban titles as stupid as this?

If there were a tournament on Mars, he would find a way to win it. He's that determined. Yes, he grew up a clay courter, but he's a chameleon. He becomes whatever he needs to be. And he's naturally talented enough to do so.

Agree with the fitness thing, but it looks like he or his team has found something. No knee issues on this hc season so we will have to wait and see.

What has me surprised is how he has answered what almost everyone was claiming for: bigger growndstrokes, specially flatter on fast surfaces, and a bigger serve, that would give him more free points.

You can like him or dislike him, but the guy is a hard worker and he has the main thing a real champion needs: a strong will and work ethic.

...and the talent to get the desired results.

I didn't even think he'd win more than 3 FO's when I first saw him (which is already a huge achievement).

To say that he exceeded everyone's wildest expectations of him is an understatement.

I don't even know what to expect anymore. He's one big surprise
