Is Djokovic vs Federer the best rivalry in Tennis History?

Wow the best in History?????? Not even close........no.

It's not even as good as Fed/Rafa or Rafa/Nole..........looking back to classics like Borg-JMac , Borg-Connors, Lendl-JMac, Lendl-Connors and JMac-Connors all as good if not all better.

Agreed. They were superior rivalries. Becker v. Edberg and Becker v. Lendl were also great rivalries. Federer v. Djokovic is a blink-and-you-missed it affair, which--among your strong reasons--is why Federer v. Nadal is the rivalry cited in Federer's career more often than not.

Come on Bobby, I would hope you give me more credit than that. Did we not just have a conversation the other day where I ranked Laver as GOAT, Rosewall as #3, Fed as 4-5, and Nadal 6-8?

I've seen that match, one of the finest matches ever. I also consider Sydney Dunlop in 1970 to be a major level event (probably 4th after Wimby, USO, PSW)

I would agree Rosewall vs Laver has produced the most high quality tennis matches in history, but I mean that Djokovic vs Federer has produced the most high quality tennis matches in the open era. Laver/Rosewall still produced some great matches in the open era no doubt, but the peak of their great battles happened from 63-67, only a minor percentage occurred from 68-71 and by 72 both had declined (although WCT 72 was a great one too).

SpicyCurry, Thanks for this explanation.

The 1972 Dallas final was of highest level (some say it's the all-time greatest match) but I agree that a few 1963 to 1967 matches of L&R were probably even better.
