Is the 4D 300 really more powerful than old 300G? Aerogel 300?

I've been told this racket has more power than the old 300G due to this technology. Is that true? I'm talking about the NON-tour version, as this is the best one to compare since they both have 16 X 19 string patterns and are about the same static weight (10.9 oz.)--I'm not interested in the Tour version--too heavy.

Is it just a little, or significantly more powered?? What would be the best tension to string the 4D 300 at (17 guage) for maximum power??

Also, is the new 4D 300 more powerful than the last model--the 300 Aerogel??

I've never hit with the old AG 300, but I have compared a 4D demo to my trusty 300G and found the 4D to be noticeably more powerful, but not to the point where I'd called it a tweener frame. Power-wise the 4D seems to be in between the old 300G and the 500. It feels more solid, too, and a little stiffer. I like a lower tension on my 300G. I once had it strung at 62 and it felt too boardy, so it's at 58 now with NXT and I like how it feels. But that's just my experience with the old frame. I enjoyed playing with the 4D and might get one myself. I'm considering that or the Gamma T-7, both lighter weight control-oriented racquets on the flexible side that I can tweak with lead if needed.

The old 300G ended up being low powered because it was so low weight. I found opponent's hitting nast kickers almost wrenched the racq out of my hand. I added lead and it became a more potent weapon.

I tried the M-Fil 300 but didn't stick long with it.

As you state below I'd be interested to hear from anyone about the power of the 4D 300 as well?

Also, is the new 4D 300 more powerful than the last model--the 300 Aerogel??

The swing weight is still in the low 300's--which for me, I like. I'm just wondering if the 4D technology makes a big difference in terms of pop and control.

I wish the stick were a tad stiffer than 60. The old 300G was a 64 stiffness rating.

I liked the aerogel 300 but found it the control to not be as good as I wanted. I'm hoping the 4D Aerogel 300 brings out everything the other 300's lacked just a little--power and control. I'm not interested in the tour version of the 4D 300 as it's a little too heavy and has the 18 X 20 string pattern I don't like.

Any comments on the 4D Aerogel 300 (NON-tour) would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking if it's strung with Technifibre Bi-phase 17 at mid range, it should have enough power.

From what I've heard, the 300 4D non-tour is a pretty stable racket that offers more pop and control than the old 300G. The 4D 300 Tour is a different racket, thinner beam and more dense feeling. It also feels a lot heavier to swing.

wow didn't know that. Am playing with it now. Will re-check that feeling tomorrow.

I have my old 300g strung loose with Bab Alu and with a lot of lead on handle (+bit at 3 and 9) it is powerful.

ps. you do know that in the aergoel appreciation society thread that they extensively talk about the latest 4D 300...?

I've been using the AG300 for the past 3 years, just recently bought the 4D 300 and am trying to decide if I like it. I use 17G bi-phase in all of these and love the string. The 4D feels more stable then the AG at the net, I haven't really noticed a big difference in power. I have a little bit of lead tape on 3 and 9 on all rackets. I'm out injured now and it will be two months before I can start hitting again, I will be starting out with the 4D (non tour).

Hi Ace, the AG being not available anymore (?) it's not in the shops so far as I know, so it's really the (non-tour) 4D 300G that we can only access, yet I'd be interested to hear if you find minimal or much improvement? But can you actually get the AG in the shops? Sure secondhand but...
