Is the PD with Cortex worth it?

Pure Drive with Cortex or just regular Pure Drive?

I have the Babolat Pure Drive Std. now but Im getting another and just want to know if the PD racquet with the Cortex system is better? Does the the Cortex work/make much of a difference? Is it worth going with the Cortex instead of the regular?
P.S.- Price is no concern of mine.

I personally did not care for the Cortex version of the Pure Drive. It just had a different feeling IMHO. I ended up switching to the Prince O3 White.

The cortex is worth it and if you want even more stability go with the Roddick Pure Drive.

I have always stayed away from Babolat racquets but last week I ordered 2 PDR plus with cortex. I have had elbow problems in the past so it will be interesting to see how they feel.

Can you tell us how you feel after hitting with these racquets for a while? I was interested in the PDR too, but I was afraid that with the stiff frame, and a stiff polyester string, I might get some wicked tennis elbow. How's it affecting you?

I thought I saw you playing this morning and you were hitting with the PD again. Glad to have you back in the "BABS" community again. BTW, IMHO, I thought you were hitting very well.

I did notice that when you went to hit the slice backhand you chocked up on the handle of the racket a little bit when you adjusted your grip, do you do this for any reason?

Well, the honeymoon was over with the O3 White. It wasn't giving me what I wanted and isn't as stiff as the Pure Drive. So, I decided to stick with the tried and true Pure Drives, which I have been playing with now for over 5 years.

I don't think I choke up on the handle, I think it was the angle that you saw. But, if I do, I do it because it works for me.

Well I cant really compare them to other Babolts as my experience is limited with babolat. However it didnt feel bad for the arm even with a poly hybrid stringjob. I am not keeping those racquets though as I couldnt quite get the feel for the ball with them. I am more used to Wilson typ balanced racquets and this was different. Good power no doubt but I will stick to my newfound love, the Pk 7g.
For what it is worth it did feel like the PDR+ would be a great racquet on clay for me, but on the indoor carpet where I play most of my tennis I kept spraying the balls.

Spent some time with PD 107 with Cortex. Found it to be much more comfortable that the standard PD frames, but I would still not venture to call it an elbow-friendly frame. If you like the PD frames, but want some arm protection, Cortex is worth a try. Just don't expect Pro Kennex Kinetic levels of arm protection.
