Crazy times.

Nieminen will play against Zimbabwe

And following injury concern with Nick Kyrgios who didn't train on Tuesday or Wednesday, Kokkinakis being injured and Groth playing doubles and having a bad year in singles. Rumours that Hewitt might play

"Australia coach Jason Stoltenberg conceded Hewitt’s practice court form - only a month after retiring - and the Thanasi Kokkinakis’ unavailability meant the former world No 1 could make a return to competition.
Asked to comment on speculation over Hewitt’s role this weekend, Stoltenberg said: “I don’t know, actually.
“He’s enjoyed the hitting. We thought he’d retired, he’s been hitting more than these guys.
“It’s probably the first time that a captain has had to get out and prepare as if he may play."

Its understandable. Some guys get bored with retirement after a few months. They often jump at the chance to get back on a tennis court again especially if their country needs them! :)

It wouldn't be a stretch for him to play on a favorite surface just over a month after winning a slam match. If injuries force his participation start up that rusty lawnmower!

When Nieminen announced his retirement last summer, he said that he'll be happy to help the team and play Davis Cup also after retirement (if the captain chooses him to the team). And looking at the singles rankings of other Finnish players, Jarkko will be a strong candidate to the team for some time...

Also Harri Heliövaara, who is playing against Zimbabwe, has officially retired from professional tennis.

Sure, why not? Think it's great. I'd give young players from the playing countries the opportunity, gives them some good professional match practice, but if they're not available for some reason, bringing out guys who have retired is an awesome way to see them play still.

I actually assumed Hewitt would play this tie...kind of sucks it's against USA since I'll be rooting against him..hopefully he can win 2 epic matches but USA still takes the tie

But I thought he was Finnish? Why is he coming out of retirement so soon?
