Just wondering how others have found 18 X20 string patterns re string breakages

Hi,
I have got a Head Prestige Mid Plus racquet with 18 x 20 string pattern... I have not broken a string in a while, and was wondering how others feels about the tighter string patterns, an whether they have noticed their strings lasting longer?

I have a 16 x 18 Prince, and break strings like every 2 weeks minimum, and I use a mid price string.

The general rule of thumb is less strings equals less durability, and the reverse is obviously true as well. So you're observatios are right on...

I played with a Prestige MP, and never broke a string in it. Some string jobs would have 30+ hours on them, depending on when I got around to cutting them out.

I've switched to a Prince EXO3 Tour 16 x 18, and syn gut is popping in about 8 hours.

I'm surprised at just how big a difference it makes. It relates to the denseness of the strings rather than just the pattern, which alters both with head size and how the manufacturer has spaced the strings.

I used to play with 17 multi's exclusively on my PC600 because I knew I could get away with the thinner gauge on a tight pattern.

Open pattern and I'm back to 16.
