Like leather, only synthetic...

I currently use the Babolat leather grip in a 1.7 mm thickness. However, I have found that even with an overgrip on my racket I am developing painful caluses and blisters. So, here is what I want to know: is there a synthetic grip that is similar to leather in weight, and being able to feel the bevels as sharply and the leather(maybe a little less so) while still being softer on my hands?

It really does not make as huge a difference as you'd think. And nasty blisters are not your friend. Perhaps you are a lefty. Some lefties do not wrap their grips properly because they simply dont know its supposed to go with your forehand grip.

Nope. I'm a righty. And I wrap my grip properly. It's just that as of recently, I have found the leather to be too rough for my hands, and I'm developing blisters because of it...

Maybe you could take off the leather grip and just use an overgrip on the handle. That should take care of the problems with your hand and should be thin enough to feel all the bevels.

No... I don't want to kill my hand, that doesn't take care of the problems with my hand, that only makes them worse. I want to find a snythetic replacement grip that is similar in weight to Leather, but softer...

Try the new wilson hybrid grip:

I tried the grip out on my friend's racquet, and i must admit i got what i wanted from both leather and syn grips alike. I was kind of in the same situation you're in, and i might order a few of these.

I actually tried a BLX with this grip and I didn't care for it too much. It was VERY mushy. I have heard some good things about the Gamma Tech, and High Tech Gel Grips. Are either of these what I might be looking for?

I remember there was a Unique grip, that was like half leather and half synthetic. I'll see if I can find some pics for you.

even I felt same for leather grip. I love the feel but blister inside thumb area. I have to put tape as prevention measures.

I am going back to synthetic with lead at the bottom of the handle (on butt cap where you have babolat sign) to compensate for weight loss.

If you are only concerned about weight then just add the difference in weight between leather and synthetic using lead tape. Babolat Skin feel is a grip that is thin so you can feel the bevels.

Two options that I might suggest:
1. let the blisters heal and develop calluses. I have been using leather for a while and now, I have calluses on my hands. It just toughened up my hand. So let the blisters heal, then keep playing.

2. Test out synthetic grips. There are a lot of options out there. Obviously you can't get the best of both worlds. But I have to admit if I had tried Head hydrosorb tour in the past, I would be using it now. There are a lot of good grips out there. 2 that I would recommend trying and looking into are Prince Resipro and Head hydrosorb tour. Resipro come on the Rebels and Hydrosorb comes on the yt radical and yt prestige. Instead of trying the grips on demo racquets I would suggest buying one and wrapping it to your own likeing on your own racquet. To get more bevel feel, try wrapping them fairly tight.

I hope this helps.

Babolat skin feel (1.5 mm thickness) + an overgrip should equal the same weight as your leather grip.

It should also feel very similar as the thickness of skin feel + overgrip should be around 1.7 mm

Umm... it says that it's 1.55 mm, that's not very close. I was thinking that I want something a little thicker. I am willing to part with being able to feel the bevels sharply. I'm thinking of going with the High Tech, or High Tech Gel grips from Gamma. Has anyone else used them?

Just tough it out. There is no substitution for leather. I just let my blisters turn to calluses and it's fine now

That new Wilson grip was made specifically for you.
No, actually it's not. I've played with it before, and it was utter ****, like nearly all other Wilson products. So my only options now, are to tough it out and embrace the pain for another month or more, or switch to the Gamma Hi Tech, which with a little bit of lead, will be the perfect weight...
