Marcos Baghdatis' book

I saw this on the Croatian tennis portal and followed the link to the official Baghdatis' page- www.baghdatis.com
This is a quote from that page about "one of the best players in the world", Marcos Baghdatis

Through his book, Marcos, 21 years-old wishes to share with us his evolution in sports and humanity. He shows us how will and desire have enabled him to become one of the best player in the world. Leaving Cyprus at a young age, Marcos has had an uncommon carrier wich built him up a single and exceptional personality. His testimony given in this book is disruptive by its realism and honesty on his private and professionnal life.

« This book is my way of thanking the people I love and to talk a little about my life for those who are interested in my career »

(warning: heavy sarcasm to follow)

I am very sorry this book will be available in Cyprus only, and not translated to English till next year. Marcos Baghdatis has made a great impact on tennis...he is only 21, and yet he has already won 1 ATP title, and made it to #12 at the end of the season. That is a great accomplishment, and we are all desperate to hear about his long and sucessful carrer first-hand.
Maybe now we will find the answer to the question "Is Marcos Baghdatis God?" (some of you will remember that thread I think)

Why the hate? What has he done to you? Sorry, let him be - it's a book for people in Cyprus and doesn't concern you. It's their decision to buy it or not.
Murray did the same at an even younger age. Maybe it's a new trend between the young players.

You're obviously not one of them, so why do you care?

Didn't thought you were such a bitter person...

There are around 6 billion people in the world you know. To reach no12 in the world (and will go higher) and reach the slam of the final is not something that 99.99999999999999999% of the world's population can relate to.

During the AO, Bags was asked in a press conference what were some of his favorite books. He replied, "I don't like to read."
Wonder if he read this book.

I joined the Marcos Baghdatis Fanclub! And I heard about it through that. I would definately get the book, except it's only available in Cyprus. If I really wanted to I could contact my connections out in the Mediterranean. I'd like to see this book when it is released in English and the US.

Umm..I didn't know it wasn't allowed not to like certain players on this board. If you would bother to go search for other threads about Baghdatis, you would see I never liked the guy. I didn't jump on the wagon when he was proclaimed future GOAT or whatever superlatives he got on these boards (and there sure were many, deserved or not...time will tell), on the contrary, I mostly had a negative point of view whenever I bothered to reply to a thread about him.
It's probably because I don't like him, but like CC said, I think it's a bit too early to be writing a book about yourself at the age of 21. I find it vain. There have been other young players with bigger success than Marcos (so far) and they haven't written a book about themselves at that age.
I have the right to express my opinion, wether you find me bitter or not. By the way, you're wrong. I have no reason to be bitter towards Marcos. I just dislike him and all the hype around him since last AO.

@Rhino: No, being a pro tennis player was never my goal. I am happy with the science carreer I chose, and with playing tennis just for fun.

Oh you are allowed to hate any player you want, but it doesn't mean you have to make them look bad. It's a bashing thread about a (premature) book. Big deal.
So you just dislike someone, because of the hype he gets, without knowing anything about him and who hasn't made any bad comments either?
It's not like he insulted your favorite player or the fans or anything (like Nalbandian).

Sorry, I find this reason weak, but whatever...I just don't get irrational hate.

If you can't stand this guy for whatever reason, then just ignore him. Posting threads to make a player look bad intentionally, won't change other peoples opinion about him, anyway. (You won't make fans like him less..)

Anyway, it's not like I think you are a bitter person, which you clearly are not. I was just surprised to see a bashing thread coming from you (about a player who has done nothing wrong, yet). So sorry, if I sounded a bit harsh.
Have a nice Christmas.

It does beg the question, why has it suddenly become common place to publish an autobiography at an early age?

I know, I was in an airport the other day looking to grab a book and the most prominent books in the biography section were from Big Brother contestants!
