Memory Lane...What Racquet(s) were u using between 1985-1990?

Hi Mate- how was the Yamaha Secret? Was that the white one which Sabatini used? Or there was a grey one used at one stage by was it Noah? They looked like beast of a racket, looked so solid and powerful. How did it play?

So on the basis of this chat, I took the Secret 04, strung with natural gut, into the arena. I have not used it for 7 or so years, same strings. And it played totally amazingly (ok, the overgrip had decomposed and had to be replaced). Like I left it off just yesterday. Anyone who ever played it knows the feeling of total crispness. And the occasional challenge of excess power and the resulting temptation to hold back the swing, the usual downsides of the stick. But nothing like it for solid hits and the absolute best slices and volleys of any racket ever. Challenge me.

The Prince broke because i went full McEnroe after missing a shot. That's still the only racquet I've ever broken in anger.

The PK Dominator broke on a forehand.... In the lower part of the hoop.

The Spectrum Comp broke too... Don't recall where in the hoop.

I still have the Profile. Had 2 of them. Gave 1 to my sister. I played with the Profile from 1988 all through high school, college, and up until 1998!

Thanks for posting...what a great insight into how it plays. Sounds like it plays as solid and beautiful as it looked!

I had an 92 RA Kuebler Widebody 280 Hz in 1992. I was so proud, it played like nothing else before and after. The Secret 04 played like a Clash compared to that!

Prokennex destiny ceramics 95

Well both where my father's but used them as a junior in the mid 90's.

Just found them a month ago and thinking to restring the prokennex 95 but not sure because it's quite heavy(357gr).

What are your thoughts on that?

Donnay Borg Ceramic (white) - that thing was quite heavy. Then moved to Prince CTS Approach MP around that time/early 90’s.
