Mizuno 6 month warranty

I went to fill out warranty info on my Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour 4, and saw this on their website.

"To qualify for this 6-month outsole limited warranty guarantee, the outsole must be completely worn through exposing the midsole of the shoe within 6 months of purchase. The upper and the toe bumper are not covered under this 6-month outsole limited warranty guarantee."

Seriously? You have a warranty and don't cover the one part that tennis players wear out the most?

Has anybody had any luck getting them to honor the warranty on toe wear?

Id argue under the big toe is where people wear it out the most.

Are you talking about the part of the outsole that comes up over the front tip of the toe? I would send them in anyway then raise hell if they say no.

Yeah I went ahead and put in a request, so we will see what they say. Just thought it was crazy that they would not cover the toe guard.

They shouldn't cover shoes abnormally worn at the toe for the simple reason that no shoe can withstand toe draggers and none will ever do so.

Agreed. If you wear thru under the big toe, yes. In front of the big toe? Buy some shoe goo or something like that.

Mizuno was super quick to respond and said they would "love to send a replacement". (y)

And if anybody is interested, they said the new model comes out on April 2.
Like I said amazing customer support. I contacted them back towards end of December on their ‘Delight Guarantee” the said the shoes I was going to replace was out of stock in my color scheme so I could do a different color or wait until they came out with the new shoe (then they said end of Feb, guess they are running late). I am waiting for new shoe to come out so I can get the delight guarantee which they said they would honor with the new shoe as I was already in system. Best customer support I have seen in any shoe company.

Meaning an Exceed 5 in March? Or just another colorway?

Really like the Exceed 4. My partners preferred shoe. Just was really hard to find my size so switched to K Swiss Hypercourt Supreme.

Are you able to give a comparison between the Hypercourt Supreme and the Exceed 4s? I may have to finally try on the Hypercourts since they keep coming up as highly recommended for those with wider feet, and as good performing shoes in general. Seems a lot of people swear by them.

HyperCourt Supreme
Glove like fit.
Slightly wider toebox.(compared to exceed)
Great Heel design
Feel close to court.
Better stability/support
Easy to find.
Runs half size large for most.(US sizing)(Euro size seems close to spot on)

Exceed 4
Classic Heel
Upper looks durable
Good forefoot design
Exceptional cushion
Slightly better Traction
Better colorways(2020) OK (2021)
Sole Warranty
Insanely hard to find.

What I like about both ... they are light and form fitting while not giving up comfort and reasonable support. Uppers Breath OK in both. Normally wearing Darn Though Hiking Socks with medium cushion. Playing on Hard Courts. Sole is wearing well but I am super gentle on shoes. Playing four to five days weekly depending on weather three hours per outing. Seem amazing for such lightweight shoes. Supreme feels slightly snug(not tight) in the heel and that keeps the shoe well in place. Exceed 4 feels like mid/forefoot holds foot well...maybe slightly loose in heel. Might need to lace them up one notch to get good fit.. My normal everyday shoes tends to be Mizuno.

Legendary comparison there and as someone who has the Exceed 4s, you give me some great things to go by. I love the Exceeds in that they remind me somewhat of the Solution Speed 2s, but they're just a bit more unstable than I'd like and also higher off the ground. Just wearing them and testing them side to side I feel like I should tip over and roll and ankle in them or something, yet in play I never have so that's the test that counts I suppose. Cushioning is kind of amazing, though, I must say. But you saying the Supreme has a slightly wider toebox and better stability/closer court feel... I think I'm going to have to try a pair of these on.

To your point about the sizing, I'm an American transplant in Europe and I notice KSwiss has a sizing quirk: they list their Size 10 US (which I typically am in most shoes) as a size 43 EU (usually it's 44 in most brands). On the flip side Mizuno is also quirky compared to most brands: the 44 I have (which I bought because I though they were size 10 US) is actually listed on the tag as an EU44 but a US 10.5. Strange times. Anyway, thank you so much for taking the time to post that comparison - very helpful.

Hello, I had a pair of Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour 4 and wore through the outsole in about 8 weeks of play. I opened up a claim on January 1 and got a quick reply on how to process it. I sent in receipt and photo and was also told that "they would love to send me a replacement pair" but they don't have them in stock and I must wait till February, when contacted, they asked to wait till April 4th. Well, It's April 4th and they do sell them again on website and now they tell me that they cannot replace due to "limited supply and internal process limitation" but I am welcome to pick any other shoe for the amount I paid for , which I don't need. It's been 4 months so far with no replacement. I've had warranty claims with KSWISS, Nike, Adidas, ASICS and Babolat - no one had issues with. Everyone has always was super easy to work with. Based on my experience, I will never buy Mizuno again. The shoes are OK but the service is terrible and the fact that they lie, plus 2 month of play is not durable enough. I can usually get 4+ months out of ASICS with similar comfort. I contacted BBB to see if that might help to speed up the resolution.

I just went thru the same thing, but I don't feel so negatively about it. Contacting the BBB seems a bit much.

I submitted for a replacement in early March and was asked if I could wait until April. And just like @max.sacto, when April came around, I was told they couldn't send me a new pair... because even though they were available on the website, they weren't available for a replacement. So I was essentially offered the same amount in credit for anything on their website. I got a new pair of running shoes out of it, and I really like their running shoes, so I'm fine with how they handled it.

However, I do agree that it is dumb that they made me wait a month and then still wouldn't send them to me even though they had the shoes in stock.

Same thing happened to me obviously the 4's. I started out with three pairs too. They offered me $120 worth from their website. I too went through each pair in only 2 months. So I'm moving on to the diadora speed 5 in hopes i get at least 4 months out of them

Its really too bad that i have to move on from the exceed 4 because other than durability they are perfect. Perfect fit. Light and stable at the same time. I guess there always has to be something. If only i were rich. Ha ha

Sad to hear this...The last year has been quite interesting in how difficult it is to keep good tennis shoes in stock. I was lucky I ordered a few pairs fall last year. Everything I want has been out of stock since:(

Soo... I looked for shoes to see what was available. I found Black and Mint K Swiss Hypercourt Supreme and Red Mizuno Wave Exceed 4...(in my size) Last pair of Exceed in my size. It was also priced to move at 90 versus normal 120. Online I did find the darker green/grey camo Exceed 4 at list price. Overall stock still feels slim. They were easier to find last fall...with better color selection. How long you have to spend your credit. I know it kinda ruins the warranty, but if it counts as a new shoe purchase. Maybe you can wait until they come back in stock. If they give you a code which lasts twelve months it might work well. Odds are it is a manual override, so if they come back in stock you will have lost your sole warranty:(

Buy another brand in a mean time. Still I wish I had purchased more last fall. Prices were low and they were in the mood to clear out old stock. Colors were nice as well. Maybe it is just a shipping issue and they will have more in stock next month.

So can Mizuno users please confirm if it's worth getting a pair (Exceed 5s) for the outsole warranty? Currently I have the option of buying other brands which fit me just as well and are cheaper, but the warranty got me interested. Will I even be able to obtain a decent replacement (of the same item) after those 6 months?

Out sole warranties are always complicated. I like to at least have two shoes in rotation which can make it difficult. The shoe does seem designed to be insanely durable for it weight. SO it really depends on how fast you wear out other shoes and if you prefer have more than one pair in rotation. The sole is pretty good overall in the 5s.

It seems that Mizuno will honor the warranty. But it depends if the have anything in stock to send you a replacement.

Tennis Warehouse fulfilled the Mizuno warranty for me for both the Exceed and the Enforce models. All this in the last two years. They provided a credit for the Enforce stating the model I returned was out of stock, but another color in my size WAS in stock. I like working with TW—an easy winner.
