morning play affects performance in evening

I seemed to have found a correlation between playing in the morning and negative performance in the evening. I sometimes play or practice at 6 or 7am and then play an evening match and my performance always suffers. The first thing you might think is fitness and that my body is tired in the evening, but this is not the case. I proved this last night by my volley performance after a very light morning practice. Over the past few weeks I have been volleying very well all the time and yesterday morning I happened to do some volley drills on my ball machine. Then last night I played singles and could not volley to save my life. The rest of my game was just fine. In the past I would usually just hit groundstroke practice in the morning and found that my groundstrokes were terrible if I had an evening match. This has been consistent for well over a year and each time I am more convinced of it. Anyone else experience this phenomenon or have an explanation for it?

i really thought you meant something else...

sometimes i do have the same experience. it usually had to do with me thinking too much about what i just worked on and trying to force it.
