Hey all, apart from tennis my great love is music, and my band has now got the point where we're doing to record an album. We are currently doing demos of each of our songs, and this one came out nice so we're sharing it with a free download for anyone who wants it on their iPod http://soundcloud.com/death-ape-disco/death-ape-disco-new-demo
If you like QotSA, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, stuff like that, it may be for you, if not, hey, you've lost nothing! Have a good day everybody, and if you took the time, thanks for listening.

First off, I'm just going to say that this really isn't my type of music.

That said, I thought it was really, really good. Didn't sound like a "garage band" at all. Very professional. I could see this being played on the radio and I could see your band (if nothing else) being a solid opening act.

Well done!!!!

I'm going to have disagree with all of that besides the opening act thing (which is usually political and $$ driven), but I did listen and enjoyed it.

Well, I know you play music (guitar I think), so you know much more than me.

I just thought it was much better than typical "garage band" stuff I've heard.

Just being in the music biz so long has put some incredible demos in front of my face is all. I'm picky.

I'm a sucker for the 90s rock though, so I liked it.

Thanks for sharing Dilettante, that first song was lovely, and great bass tone on it too, really enjoyed strapping the headphones on and listening. Second one feels like Soundgarden at their more playful, cool stuff. Can see why Uzzhuaia are popular that sounds like it would be great music to be out with your mates and some beers to. No. Yeah! Interesting the 90s vibe of a lot of it, that's right up my street, there are of course so many very talented people in every city.

Thank you for the responses, I shall indeed try and post moar if another demo comes out OK.

I liked it a lot but again I am a fan of 90's rock. I do think that the bass could have done more but I am also a bass player so maybe I am biased. over all really good.

Do it, I love hearing music from other people and I liked your stuff.

I play myself, but I'm always switching between bands and have no recent demos. I'm playing motsly live. I will post something when I have some decent demo.

I posted some guitar stuff some time ago, nothing elaborated, just myself recording some sh**ty stuff on Cubase. Like taking a Public Enemy vocal track and adding bass & guitars in RATM style haha.

It is pretty good. The vocals need to feel fuller (not better, just fuller) to complete the sound in my book, but it is def headed the right direction. Throw a producer in the mix and you could make a run at it. I always liked the production on this song.

Corrosion Of Conformity rock, I was lucky enough to see them with Clutch on the In The Arms Of God tour, much more the groove side of things at that point. This is punky, very straight ahead, so much energy.

We have actually now recorded an album which is being finished up, so a producer has been thrown into the mix!

I was actually here to ask a favour. We're in the lead in a poll to support Orange Goblin, one of our favourite bands. Would anyone take 2 seconds to click this link and vote Death Ape Disco? No catches, no ties, might make our dreams come true :) https://www.facebook.com/questions/453717598028440/

Please continue to post your tunes folks, it's great to hear fellow tennis players' stuff :)

I like Alice in Chains and while not intending this to sound like a flame (it's not), can you acknowledge that your "Death Ape Disco (New Demo) is a shamelessly blatant rip-off of Alice in Chains' vox??

Oh we love Alice In Chains' harmonies, no doubt about it, we love getting blasted and singing their songs (not good for tennis though!). I'm very much from a choral kinda background, as I read Jerry Cantrell is too, so not only are the influences similar, but I've gravitated towards those kind of harmonies, that's what I like, and that's what I want to hear more of in rock music.

I would strongly say they weren't a *rip-off* though, I think that's definitely a flame in fact, and an unjustified one. We haven't ripped a specific Alice In Chains song, and I can't think of one that has the same melodies. Those harmonies worked for the mood of the song, so that's what we went with. Still, if the harmonies remind you of Chains, awesome, cos we love Chains.

Well, the vox timbre, placement, harmony intervals, and esp. the Layne Staley-esque penchant for 'sitting' on a pure note ... then adding vibrato. Sorry if 'rip off' came across as a tad strong, would 'lifted' be better? ;-)

Not a flame either, just an (apparent) observation. Better yet, go shop that particular tune and tell me if the A&R rep's impressions doesn't contain any A in C 'derivative' references. But all that b.s. aside, most importantly you're having fun - good for you - carry on.

About the name: Death Ape Disco? There's already Eagles of Death Metal and the hopelessly trite Panic @ the Disco, a 'no sack' band whose name you surely do not want to be confused with...
