My own, humble version of Bohemian Rhapsody :)

Hey guys. I don't know why I didn't post this here earlier. I'm guessing since it's a tennis forums, maybe people wouldn't care.

I recorded my own version of Bohemian Rhapsody months ago. The middle, operatic part, that is. It was such a fun ride, with all the overdubs.

It ends up being lead vocals + 141 Andreses. Such a tasking yet rewarding job!

I last heard the original about 20-25 years ago or more. Sounds identical.

Great job. What exactly do you mean by 141 andreses. Pls explain.

141 overdubs. Each harmonic part, sung sometimes 10 and sometimes 20 times, creating the illusion of a big, big choir. At one point, there are more than 140 Andreses singing at the same time.

Oh, I though you are giving some multiple account/screennamed TT posters like NSK/bullsh!tta/voleyqueen etc a run for their money:)

Anyways, good sir, you did a fantastic job with your rendition, even pronouncing the words, shall I say better and more emphatic. Will you do a rendition of the best song of all time, the Macarena?

Nicely done. Very impressive!
Why thank you, scotus!

cool. what equipment and software did you use?

only thing i didn't like is it's not the whole song!
I was meaning to do the entire song. I first recorded this part to see what the reaction was. I did it like a year ago, but only uploaded a YouTube video a few months ago, and always struggled to get views!

How I did it? Pretty straightforward. A Rode NT1A through a Behringer tube preamp, to a dbX compressor, directly to hard drive. No effects added, other than just a little gentle top (shelving), just a liiiitle tad of reverb and some panning. My DAW is (for the most part) Nuendo.

Well done! It's a great song. I sing it in my car but only with the volume turned up really loud!!!
Is there any other way?? :D

Very impressive... Especially the high-pitched falsetto parts for a big guy!
Haha, thanks! In my channel there's another Queen song (Nevermore), in which I go even higher!

Ha! A multitracked, choral version of Macarena! Daaale a tu cuerpo alegría Macarena! Heeeeeey Macarena!!

Freebird!!!!!!!!
I don't see why not!

Nice one. I imagine that took some time to accomplish.
Not really, to be honest. Two hours to arrange, and about 10 hours to record all the parts. I did it in three days, so I didn't have to sing for more than 3 hours in a row.

The mixing itself was pretty fast and straightforward, because I was already mixing it while I was recording it.
For most lines I was doing 5 takes (a clear one, a clear one off axis to the left, a clear one off axis to the right, an airy one off axis to the left, and an airy one off axis to the right. I was then panning them all across the stereo spectum, and then, another 5 takes the same way, but inverting most pannings. If some heavy choirs were required, I would do another 10 more.

After everything was recorded, all it needed was some volume adjusting, a little high end EQ, and that was it :)

Very good. I am amazed at how did you meet so many people with your same name and managed to put them together on the same room to sing. ;) (I know, it was a bad jock)

Here's the secret:

Most of them weren't really Andreses. I found several Carlos, Pedros, Estebans and Alejandros and paid them up to pretend to be Andreses.

Here's an idea.

Make a music video of this with Djoko, Nadal, Fed & Murray's headshots, in a diamond formation as in Queen's music video.

Nothing wrong with your version but Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the biggest piles of crap ever written and Queen were awful.

Yes, I know how you feel about Queen. I'm glad you find there's nothing wrong with my version. Coming from a Queen disliker, I take that as the highest compliment!

No way, really? It's a must!
One of the greatest acts of all time (despite whatever Cesc may think about them) ;)

I need to turn you the way of Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones and Captain Beefheart.
"HOLD MY BIG TOE ('Till It's Time To Go)."

Now THERE is a 20th Century masterpiece if ever I heard one!-lol. Hey, while we're in the Phi Zappa Krappa-esque alt. music fraternity, why stop there? What about (a fav.) the luminiously incandescent talent-of-all-talents: "Wildman" Larry Fischer? (!) ..... bought his album "unseen" solely on the Zappa affiliation ....

Hwy61? .... 12x5? .... Kick Out the Jams? ...... bah, mere child's play.

Below musical link:
One of Frank "Duke of Prunes" Zappa's *cough* musical prodigies: Larry Fischer singing his psychedelic smash hit: "Circle"
(n.b. - Mrs. Fischer is the old lady on the album cover wearing the sign 'round her neck reading "Larry's Mother" -- Larry's the cross-eyed guy holding the knife to her chest). Wholesome sing-a-long fun for the entire family!:
