Natural Gut - When to replace

I string racquets for two 3.0 ladies who love nat. gut. After using for 6 months, the strings look hardly used even though they play 4 times per week. I don't think they'll ever break their strings.

From what I understand, nat. gut plays the same right up until it breaks. Is there a period of time (i.e. every four months) that I should replace nat. gut, regardless of condition?

Thanks.

When it loses playability. I have a female customer who goes about 16 - 18 months with gut. She swears it plays well up until she decides to restring. They rarely break on her.

yeah i agree with the above post. gut plays very very well for a long time, and even when the playability diminshes, it still plays better than almost anything else out there. dont restring it until it breaks, unless it really does start to lose playbility, or it gets wet or damaged somehow.

I played with my Klip legend for less than 10 hours before it started to fray. I bet those women don't pound the ball like we guys do. BTW, if you're a man, I'd say anywhere from 50-80 hours of play, but if you're a woman, you'll never need to restring again.

Er... I'd say it's not due to being females, but being 3.0 players. Anyway, there're indeed some girls hitting pretty well in my class as well as some guys pretty suck... oh well...

By the way, I guess their hitting is something like "wait for the ball hit the racket" instead of the other way around. Similar to badminton. People (especially mid-aged to elderly who never learn it regularly when they were young) hit it with super compact swing because they claim even a bit bigger swing the badmintion flies to nohwere, while they don't know it's due to the bad swing and bad attack angle but not the "powerful" strings/rackets they have. However, I keep seeing this regularly in my life since I was 10.
