Need advice concerning my KBT

Hi there,

I do hope you kind folks can help provide some advice or insight to a problem I am experiencing.

I currently use the kblade tour. I like it's stability and all the other good points that has been mentioned in many other threads.

The last couple of times I played, I tried out my friends head speed mp 18x20 and totally liked the feel of the racket. Accordingly to the specs found on tw, the rackets are very similar. KBT has a swing weight that is slightly higher though both their static weight is the same. The speed's face is 100in versus KBT's 93.

A little more about my friend's head speed mp. It's leaded at 3 and 9. Strung with x1 biphase @ 57lbs.

What I liked abt the racket was that somehow it felt lighter and also it seemed that I was getting a little more power with it. Somehow it felt more manageable and manuverable.

This is the thing. I love the KBT's stability during volleys over the Speed but I liked the seemingly increased manuverability I had with the Speed.

I don't want to buy another racket. So my question is this. Do you folks think that I'll be able to replicate the feeling I had with my friend's Speed if I modify my KBT to be the same as my friend's Speed setup? Which means to say lead at 3 and 9. And to restring with x1 biphase.

I ask if this a possibility since the rackets share similar specs.

However it still is a mystery to me why friend's Speed felt lighter (static weight) in my hand though it was leaded. My KBT is stock, no modifications to the specs. Could anyone help explain this.

I appreciate all the help! Thanks in advance!

Well first off the KBT is a very different racquet to the speed IMO. The speed felt lighter due to the KBT being more head heavy than the speed. You should experiment with putting some lead in the handle, that will make it less head heavy and maybe replicate the speed!

Hope that helps!

Hi.

Thanks for the input. However i don't think thy explains why the speed mp feels lighter.

According to the specs in TW, the opposite is true. As in the KBT is 8pt hl compared to the speed mp being 7pt hl. This would mean that the speed is more head heavy.

So the questions still remains, could I achieve the same feel if I mod the kblade tour?

Oh the KBT feels more head heavy to me? Dunno why. KBT definently has more of a dead feel, whereas the speed has a little bit more pop to it, Just my 2 cents, personal preference i guess :)

The strings might account for the extra pop as you did not mention what string you are currently using. Biphase X1 is a multi with quite a bit of power.

But if you feel the speed is more manageable and manuverable, you are probably better off just getting that racquet. Messing with lead tape, balance, and weight takes quite a bit of time to get right and requires you to have the necessary equipment ie scale.

Typically, lead at 3 and 9 o' clock increases stability. So if you like the stability of the KBT already, I wouldn't advise altering that.

What I would advise is checking out TW University. You can compare racquets side by side and see what kinds of results different racquets provide both before and after customization.

I am using poly in the mains and a multi in the crosses. Can't remember the tension they're strung at though.

Thanks so far. So i should just get that racket? Really? No way I'll be able to get there without buying a new racket?
