new racquet for 150$

Hello,

I am 15 years old and want to buy a new racquet.
I am all around player, I have one hand backhand and I try to hit with plenty of spin but also to include flats.

For now I am using the dunlop aerogel 500 and it is a great frame but I want to change my head size to a smaller one (about 98, 95).

Which racquet do you think will fit me?
I was thinking about wilson k six one team or maybe the yonex rqis 1 tour/ tour xl 95 lite.

What do you think?

TY in advance :)

The 200s! I basically sound like the same player as you (same age and style, but with a 2hbh) and this racquet can do a lot that I wasn't able to do with my pure drives at the net and approach shots etc.

Forgot to add that this racquet is stable as!

Head Radical MP? Good start frame and plenty of room for customization. I am not like other posters here who have tried 1000 different racquets, but if I had to go through the situation you were in, I would go with the MG Radical MP or the BLX Tour.

I think you are trying to head the wrong way.
Modern tennis is all about heavy topspin baseline bashing, and the 500 does the job just fine. If you want more plowtru, add weight to the head, or choose the Tour version.
Going from 100 squares down to 98 or 95 is an excercise in esoterics. No sense whatsover.
Now going to a softer frame might make sense. MIGHT.
I went from Dunlop's Mfil and Aero 200's to the Aero500 mainly for doubles, but it seems to work for singles at my low 3.9 level. Just don't blindly put the ball back, but instead, play attacking tennis with that lightweight racket.

Try the dunlop 200 or 200 tour. The rebel or ignite team may be good too

1) Dunlop Aerogel 4d 300. Two for $199
2) Babolat Pure Storm (original). $109
3) Gamma 320x $159
All of the above racquets are 98 square inches and 'open' patterned (16x18, 16x19, or 16x20). Will add more control while still allowing plenty of spin.

I've heard many times the siren song of new sticks, but I'd hate to see you waste your money and your practice time (getting used to a different racquet). Like the above post pointed out, the difference between a 100 and a smaller midplus is negligible; in fact, since Dunlops have narrow heads, it's likely that even a 95 would be about the same stringbed width as your 500.

I'd counsel hanging onto the cash until you can find your 500 for a great price and snagging another one or two, and in the meantime getting even more familiar with your racquet.

Plus if the Original Poster is using the Aerogel 500, those are about $60 new.

This is really good advice. I'm impressed with its perception. Try out some lead tape, and see if what you've got already won't fill the bill nicely.

The LM Radical is an awesome frame and will eventually be a classic, IMO. It's about 95 sq. in. and is highly customizable as your needs change. Plus, it's only $65! That will give you another $85 for strings, etc.

With a set of CAP grommets and a leather grip, the frame is hard to top.

RQiS 1 tour Light or the RQiS 1 Tour XL Light will be the best options , and you can always increase the weight if you need more.
The 500 and 500T are some of the worst rackets made.
Go with faith and you'll be happy.
Good luck

Prince tour Diablo at 93sq in and $129 has good spin potential, good plow through, and a generous sweet spot. It's a great racquet for the price.

I second this. Radicals are great frames, which are EASILY customizable. Put in a soft copoly or bed of syn gut and you'll be on your merry way!

I don't know.
I have two LMRadMids, both feel allaround dead middle of the road.
Switched to Dunlop200's, a heavier but quicker racket.
Now on DunlopAero500, much lighter by 2 oz, but can hit a big heavy ball even thous the swingweight is listed at 307 or whatever. We'll see if the stiffness might affect tendons after a while.

TW has these in sale:
Wilson K Factor KPro Staff 88 <- $149.99
Wilson K Factor Pro Staff 88 Strung Demos <- $129.00

I know that those are smaller than what you need, but I've tried a few hit with the racquet and it's very great for 1-handed BH. You may try.

How do you tell a 15-year old to play with this stick? Why would you coach a junior to lose? That's like throwing him on the top of the mountain for a ski race with straight skis while all of the other competitors were using curved ones.

Kid...buy a stick that will let you compete with others in the B 16's/18's. Play with a 100in2 if you hit with a lot of topspin or a 98in2 if you have a more varied game, especially if most of your tennis is played on hard or indoors. You don't want to be a loser, only to have to sit with the other losers in the corner of the cafeteria without any groupies to cheer you on while your too busy losing your matches.

isn't this a tad too big of a jump for him? from 100sq in to an 88sq in? on top of this, to a very demanding player's stick (ps88)?

my suggestion is the 4d aerogel 300 or 300 tour...a little heavier frame compared to his current racquet, great access to spin and very control oriented...try it
