What is BLX?

A survey of over 600 tennis players revealed a common interest toWilson, 90% of them wanted a racquet with the right feel, and feltright. So Wilson set out to create a line of racquets that would meetplayer's demands...

Feel-Impact information transferred into the players hand

Feel determines the ability to sense the ball coming off the string bedand better control the shot, and this is what connects the ball, racquet, and player's hand together.

Technology, Material, and Design are all combined in one to bring you the ultimate feel. BLX

Basalt

Wilson introduces a new material into their highly respected line:Basalt. Basalt is a natural volcanic rock used in manufacturing andmade into fine and ultra fine gold fibers. Basalt fibers areenviornmentally friendly and superior to other fibers in terms ofthermal stability, sound insluation, vibration assistance anddurability.

With the new BLX line, Basalt fibers are woven longitudinally with theinnovating [K]arophite Black to create the most advanced composite everin the industry. Players will find the ultimate in frequency reductionwhile retaining the performance of carbon fiber in terms of lightness, responsiveness, stability and ridgitiy.

Basalt added into racquets filters out unwanted frequencies (i.evibrations) that reach the hand to deliver a clean feedback andsensation for the perfect feel players demand!

9 elements of BLX

The BLX line incorporates 9 variables into their racquets.

Frame Technology

Triad technology incorporates Isozorb to seperate the hoop and handle for Maximum Comfort.

FX technology incorporates a quad shaft design for 23% increased torsional stability on off-center hits.

Linear Geometry provides an overall 35% stability increase compared to a classic beam construction

Grommet Designs

Wilson is going to use 3 different grommet designs so players can get the ultimate performance out of their racquets.

Classic-Traditional 22 string movement for a classic response players love.

Double Holes-A bigger hole allowing 26 string movement for a 7% bigger sweetspot

AGT- Articulated Grommet Technology allows an extraordinary 76 string movement for the biggest sweetspot ever (+34%)

Grip

3 different grip styles will be available.

Pro Hybrid(1.6mm)- a Leatherbase will transmit more feel to the player's hand, a firm PU allows forfull racquet sensation and thin diameter will allow players to get acomplete feel of the racquet.

Performance Hybrid(1.8mm)-A cotton base allows asofter feel than leather yet firmer feel than foam, excellent moistureabsorption. A tackified PU gives players a high performance feelinggrip, and the medium thickness @ 1.8mm gives all around racquetcontrol.

Comfort Hybrid(2.0mm)-An Air-Cellfoam provides the ultimate in comfort, a soft PU gives players acomfortable and tacky feel. The thick diameter gives players theultimate cushioning.

With this new line, which BLX racquet is right for me?

Wilson has associated each racquet category with the elements of Fire, Water, and Air to give players a better understanding of their racquet choices.

Fire (Player)-Passion, Heat, and precision.
Water (All Around)-Fluid, versatile, and balanced.
Air (Game Improvement)-Light and maneuverable

Racquet colors are inspired from its element (i.e. water=blue) a common Gold color represent Basalt and Feel.

So what racquet goes where?

I wish they had a Kobra88 paintjob, for the Tour 90.

I actually like the Surge's PJ better than the Tour 90.

I really think that if they kept the white and gold lettering but god rid of the white accents, the tour 90 would look great. I still like that paint job. Hard to say that I like it more than the K Six One 90 though. I will still pick one up.

IMO 90% of tennis players dont want BoLoXs rackets.

Wilsons kool aid drinking monkeys need to STOP inventing pointless marketing hype that appeals only to soccer moms and xbox playing 3.0 nerds with ADD.

• Karophite Black, an evolution of the Wilson nCode, utilizes a new structure incorporating additional bonds between the SiO2 and graphite molecules on a nanoscopic scale for more feel and a strong, more stable tennis racquets.
• Konnector uses 2 external wings molded into each side of the hoop of the frame to increase the dwell time of the ball during impact for greater control and comfort with a larger sweet spot.
• Kontour Yoke is a new frame construction that enhances stiffness at key stress points for improved torsional stability.
• Kompact Center, inspired by Roger Federer, is a new industrial design innovation that improves handling, maneuverability, and provides additional feel.

K FACTOR® = 4 KUBED = 64% MORE KONTROL

64% MORE KONTROL? do you pull random figures out of your rear?

[K]factor [K]ompact Centers,[K]arophite [k]Konnector seriously are wilson high when they invent this cr@p?

Why? Isn't Wilson's business selling tennis racquets? What would happen if their sales fall because they haven't come out with anything new in a while so customers are not motivated to buy new racquets? They may leave the tennis racquet market or go out of business altogether. What do you think would happen then?

First of all, Wilson users would not be able to buy any more Wilson racquets because the company no longer exists.

Second of all, because Wilson is a large player in the market, there will be less competition in the tennis racquet market so prices will likely go up for consumers.

It's in the best interest of tennis players that Wilson keeps coming out with new models to stimulate sales. No one says that YOU have to buy a new racquet.

Marketing makes the world go around and economies humming. Without it, we'd still be living in the dark ages. The reason we're still in this recession and unemployment is so high is that consumers have stopped spending money. Marketing convinces people to spend money again. That's good for the economy.

Yes, it's simple economics. The fact that new models come out at such a much quicker pace than they did in the wood era is ultimately a good thing for consumers. We get more options.

Though I've never noticed, people do complain, however, of Wilson's quality control. I also wish they'd just come out with the PS90 that everyone has craved for so long.

Paint job design is not very original

I wish Wilson came up with some original paint job design... the K Factor looks much better than the BLX wich looks like a Yonex shirt:

But they'll never do that because if they did, people would have found their "holy grail" and would stop buying new tennis racquets forever. Instead, Wilson keeps coming out with a new racquet every couple of years that's just slightly different enough to get people to buy them thinking that this new one this time just might be the holy grail. Of course, it isn't, so that people will keep buying every new racquet that comes out in the never ending search for the holy grail.

Why sell only one racquet to a customer when you can sell him ten? Just smart marketing on Wilson's part.

Wilson Marketing: If you see this, maybe it's time to release a limited edition PS90 for $350. Then 3 years later, release it again.

If you want a PS90, but get a KPS88. It's really 90sq in. I really do think it plays better than the PS85. I think it's really an upgrade from my PS85. I hit a heavier ball on both wings. I say demo it with RIP Control 17.

Not in my opinion. The K90 feels nothing like the PS85 to me. They'd be better off just making a PS90 and then slightly changing it and its paint job every couple of years.

I mean slightly different from the last racquet. The PS Tour 90 was slightly different from the PS 85, while the nCode90 was slightly different from the PS Tour 90, and the K90 was slightly different from the nCode90. And when I say "slightly different", I mean close enough that it would encourage current users to try it or to buy it. If they were vastly different (like the difference between a K90 and a APDC), current users wouldn't even consider trying it, let alone actually buy it. Of course, if they were too similar, current users wouldn't buy it either because they would just continue using what they've already got. So it needs to be different but not too different, thus "slightly different" is the key for Wilson to keep selling new iterations of the Tour 90 to existing users.

GUYS...

Stop being so hypercritical of Wilson. Sure, the racquet slogan is LAME, but I for one am really happy about this new racquet line. I've been looking to upgrade from by K Blade 98, and these new line of racquets look perfect.

And imo, the paintjob for the BLX 6.1 90 and the Surge look 1337. Well, the 6.1 is ok, but Surge looks awesome.

So seriously, why are people complaining about new racquets? Small improvements do a lot, just look at Babolat Aeropro Drive Cortex vs. Babolat Aeropro Drive. If this racquet seriously ends up being better than 6.1 Tour 90, I'll be VERY impressed.
