New Serve Video!

Hey Guys,
Just got done filming a few serves the other night and thought I'd share with you all.

Deuce side (mostly). Mixed it up with flat, slice, topspin and attempted a few kicks as well.

AD side. Finally able to secure an end court, so I tried to work on my twist serve mostly. I hit maybe one or two flat serves, and the rest were spinny first serves or kick attempts.

Any tips or feedback is welcome and appreciated!

Old serve (2009) for reference...

Personally, I'd try to complete the takeback sooner, either by closing the stance more or pulling the rackethand back farther and sooner in the motion.

Thanks, Lee. I notice I am definitely more open stanced on my flat serves, and most of my serves from the deuce court compared to my kick serves on the AD court. I see your point about my racket arm lagging a bit, especially on my flat serves. Perhaps this is why I hit so many serves into the net! I will try practicing getting into the trophy position earlier as well as closing up my stance and see how it pans out for me.

Anyone have any tips on how to get my serve to twist in the Deuce court? I tend to hit topspin/slice serves whenever I attempt it. My best one was probably the very last serve in the first video, although it just popped straight up :[

The majority of your serves are fast slices.
For a twist, you need to toss back over your head, stroke upwards and outwards, chest pointing back and upwards, so your swing goes up first and then outwards. Twists, when you first learn them, need to be high net clearance and much slower than slice serves, until you get the motion down.
High net clearance as in 2-4' higher than the net at that point.
Currently, your toss is a mix of towards right, atop, in between, and one almost behind your head.
Good reactions, by the way, on the ball that entered your court from the left.

You aren't getting your racquet into the full back-scratch position in your windup. You are beginning your upward swing when the racquet is behind your head, rather than all the way down your back. That short swing robs you of some racquet speed and power.

Good point, I think I am going to try to also get my right elbow tucked in a bit closer to my body when I get into my trophy stance. I think this might help me get a deeper racquet drop, which I lack especially on my first serve.
