Nick Kyrgios to buy and deliver food for jobless Aussies

Problem with Kyrigos is that we'll never know how sincere he really is, or if he just sees these very public acts of charitable behaviour as a way to rehabilitate his terrible image with people.

It's pretty common for public figures who are considered terrible people to use public acts of charity as a way to fix their image. Sean Penn bringing along a camera crew to watch him "save" people in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina is a classic example of that.

It would probably be more effective for Kyrigos if he used his resources or money to help people in a low-key way, and it later came out that he helped people. Unfortunately, even if he is sincere, the way he goes about it feels self-serving because of his image problems.

indeed, but same problem lies with many internet warriors, that bash celebrities, yet we don't know if they do at least something to help the community they live in.

so, a celebrity that does something, even if it is for image repair, is still better than internet warriors that do nothing else than bash all celebrities, those who really help and those who help to repair their image.

It could be, but then you have to realize that if he doesn't announce it publicly, you'll have the same people complaining that he never did anything to help. There's no situation in which Kyrgios doesn't get s**t on.

People don’t get Nick. He has a caustic attitude on the court and towards some players, but this attitude is not really unusual outside of tennis. Even within sport, he loves being part of a team. Outside of sport, he loves his country. He’s just basically not a good fit for tennis culture, but I see no reason to believe he’s a not generally a good guy, or that he’s insincere in this gesture

Before anyone trolls some else for giving in a time of need, they should ask themselves first what they have given today...

Always be suspicious of a guy who is otherwise openly obnoxious and rude that claims to be wanting to help others. Such people end up doing more harm than good. They end up having a twisted view of reality and driven by ulterior motives. You don't need to be an angel to help others, but certainly not an openly rude and insulting person.

Hey, some of you posters have to question his motives. Just take him for his word he says he wants to help people get thru this hardship. Why do you have to read into it? You don’t know him other than his tennis persona! Just, believe that it’s sincere. If he gets attention from doing a good deed, so what?

He is not getting attention, he is seeking it, as he is always doing in other situations. Any appreciation that he gets will only go into him justifying his other behavior on those grounds, calling himself a stable genius and trashing other people. That is why I said these people do more harm than good overall.

Nick does have a heart for people who are struggling. He changes into a complainer numerous times on the court. There's a lot of people like that if you've played tennis. Mac was probably the worst and he gets an ESPN gig basically for life since he's an 8-time slam champion.

Fed, Nadal and Djoker are contributing millions for the cause. How much is Nick contributing? Door to door delivery is best left to shops, delivery services, and charity organizations who can enforce safety guidelines uniformly.

Wasn't questioning the amount he gives and yes delivery should be by prof'l services. Anyway, those 3 make about 25-50x more than him.

So, you can read his mind, ok.

And not only that, how else is he supposed to communicate to his fans/people, to make his offer, if he doesn't use that platform?
Letter drop? Psychic powers? I swear out of all the forums I've been on over the years, covering a wide range of interests, it is tennis forums that house some of the most petty, spiteful, pathetic specimens of all.

I'm not sure too many Australians actually need his offer. Initially the Australian government doubled the rate of the unemployment benefit for anyone out of work, then they introduced a second scheme set 40% higher again for employers to retain staff instead of sacking them. Australia currently has many of the highest paid unemployed people on earth, most of whom don't need additional charity.

I think quite a few will need this actually, being self employed myself and living in Australia, the 40% extra payments are yet to come through. Some people do not have mass savings.... it is another kind gesture in a long line of kind gestures that Kyrgios makes. And people get annoyed at him for throwing his racquet on court and can’t see past that for some reason. Kygs to win the next slam!!!

to @sureshs and all others that were spitting salt here on NK.
I just have see a friend of mine posting exactly same message on Facebook.
Almost sure that this person has no clue who NK is, and whether he is a good guy or a bad guy, or whether NK was simply seeking attention.

So, irrespective of what were the motives of NK, he actually did a good thing for society.
Unlike all those "smart" posters bashing Nick for this.

I prefer people to fix themselves first and not be obnoxious and play by the rules and show respect, not do none of these and then try to balance the scales by trying to do something good. The journey begins with oneself.
