Hi, i use nike courtballistec 4,3, but a few days ago i try the new nike lunar ballistec. The outsole for clay court is very bad, but is not all the problem, in this pic, you can see the new rafa´s lunar ballistec, with the courtballistec 4,3 outsole:

I think nike sell us a regular (or bad) shoes at prices too expensive, and not even who promotes it uses.

Anyway, what do you think about this?

Bye.

Rafa's been doing this ever since the LB's came out. Obviously, he prefers the CB 4.3's. Good for him!

The only way Nike will bring back the CB is if they think it would increase sales. Apparently, their marketing department thinks it won't. Business as usual.

Yep, this has been the case ever since last year Aussie Open.

Although, for clay court, neither one of these outsoles is that good.

Even rafa uses a completely different outsole on his Ballistecs for clay season (and about 99% of the tour uses this type of sole on clay):

I do agree it's odd that Nike decided to change the shoe so much. While a lot of people do like the new Lunar version, there are just as many that wish the 4.3s stayed around. Too bad they can't keep it around as an iD option, like the V9 is still available there.

I will add, you can definitely 'find' the 4.3s on the internet if you look hard (and even 1.3, 2.3, 3.3).

yes, here in Argentina, played almost exclusively on clay. But the geniuses of nike, adidas, etc. only bring shoes for hard court outsole.
Besides clay shoes don´t last much time, it is probably because on clay court the points are longer and we runs more than hard court players.

These are my favorite for clay (i buy in spain):

Yea, I know here in the states, nike and adidas only issue a clay court 'version' of just one or two of their colorways in spring and summer, but not much longer after the "clay season".

For performance I would stick with Asics or similar if that's what you have access to.

Keep an eye on nike and adidas starting in March or so, they should release a few clay court versions (although i don't recall nike did with lunar Ballistec last year, even though they did with the 4.3 in prior years). The Ballistec soles you mentioned in the beginning (as you already know) are nike's way of making the most durable shoe they can for the hard court shoe-demolishers, which unfortunately translates into poor traction on clay, and even on hard as they wear down (IMO).

Vapor 9.5 had just a couple clay versions last year, one of them being:

Barricade 7s were nice from 2012,

I think 2010 the adidas feather had this as their Roland Garros clay shoe:

That one gripped the clay really well.

Rafa will get what Rafa wants. The public will get what Nike lets us buy.

I do agree with you the out sole Rafa has on his lunar ballistic I prefer but the normal lunar ballistic isn't bad either, on hard court cant say for clay. End of the day lunar lasts longer about 30% personally more cushioning and dependable but less traction.

Regardless of that issue the lunar ballistic is a much better ballistic in reliability, the cb 4.3 was just a lemon. Though all did not succumb to the flaws of the cb 4.3 most aggressive movers would have had issues with them and there are tons of threads about defective cb 4.3. Lace loops popping witch on clay many people complained of and hard court sliders/aggressive lateral movers. I have been through 11-12 pair personally and on many pairs I had 2-4 lace loops pop before the shoe wore out. Then the air unit in the heel bursting which I had happen 3-4 times renders the shoe unplayable (also happened to an opponent 1 day). So Nike replaced a few pair of mine at the 2-3 month mark as defective even though the shoe was almost showing mid-sole at 3 months. This costs Nike astronomical amounts of money due to the amount of defect replacements as well as warranty replacements they had to issue. It was almost 3 for the price of 1 literally one time for me because the shoes only lasted me 12-14 weeks normally. The lunar has one flaw what has been mentioned through the forums a few times with insole slippage which goes away if you change your insoles but again personally I had to change insoles in cb 4.3 regardless because they gave me shin splints.

Josh

I agree to me the Asics GR5 are the best clay court shoes, mainly due to the depth of the thread.

Dunno about the clay version of Lunars, but the hard court one is great, better then the CB.s 4.3 overall (simply b/c they are lighter while still providing good support, cushioning and long lasting soles and without shoe laces loops getting broken).

The Nike guys from Argentina are probably a franchise owned by someone from there, can't you order from TW USA since you're from South America?

Yes i can order, but for example, a shoes of 100 usd, i paid 100 + 40 (shipping cost) + 70 (custom charge).
So, 210 usd is very expensive for a pair of shoes.
In argentina, the lunar ballistec cost 1139 pesos, like 132 usd.
Big difference.

at first i didnt like the design

but wearing them, i can easily say they are of the best shoes ive worn playing tennis. Not so confortable as the zoom, but more confortable then the 4.3 courtballistec and even the air max cage. Durability seems fine, maybe a little worse than the 4.3

overall, if you can get them at a discount price, they are just great
