hey guys. i have a friend who just bought this racquet yesterday at sportsauthority. i saw his new racquet and i was amazed. it said "o3 Royal" at the neck, and i never even heard of it. it was blue, and i was wondering, what is this? so i searched the web, and couldn't find any information about it. so i'm wondering if you guys know anything about this racquet. i'm wondering if prince released few of these racquets then cancelled it.

it is probably a mid priced racquet that prince makes for the big chain sports retailers...you probably cant even find it on princes website either...

Yeah, racquets like these pop up in shops like Big 5 everywhere. Racquets like the Ncode Nrage(lol) or the Liquidmetal Genesis.

The big auction site has a few of these listed. They appear to be O3 Blues that are factory pre-strung with synthetic gut.

I was amazed to see a big sport retailer stores actually have decent racquets and strings, which was Sports Authority.

LM Radical, M-Fil 300, NSix-One 95, Prince Shark

I saw the O3 Royal and it looked like an O3 knockoff.

when i was in china, i saw alot of 03 racquets that were not available to TW. racquets like the o3 hybrid tiger(what kind of name is that) and the o3 purple

its supposed to be an "exclusive" racket for sports authority. Like many of the rackets that big 5 and sports authority sell, none are listed on official sites. I tend to stay away from these. Like the wilson nRage racket and o3 royal, these knockoffs are something to stay away from.

One of my stringers (at SA) said to stay away from the O3 Royal, nRage etc.

They are basically the same mold of the regular ones made with cheaper materials...

I was also intrigued when I saw the O3 Royal at one of those shops, especially when they had them 'on sale' at $120 bucks or something and indicated that the original price was $250.00 or similar. I can't imagine someone dropping over $200 on a racquet from a chain store, so I think this was purely an attempt to draw a comparison to the O3 Blue.

I would agree that there has to be material or manufacturing differences between the Blue and the Royal. Further, the Royal comes pre-strung, which opens up a whole new debate about the integrity of the frame.

A friend just got the o3 blue, and I saw the o3 royal tonight while picking up some lead tape at TSA. The specs that are listed are spot on to that of the blue. I called and told him this and he said he'd never heard of such a frame. He's thinking of getting one. Should he totally stay away from this frame?

Cheers,

Tim

The racquets described above are all called SMU (special make-up). Prince/Wilson/Head/ and other racquet companies make racquets for chain stores all the time.

i've held it and the o3 blue before and i couldnet feel the difference. I never played with them. I thought that the royal was the blue when i saw it, but saw that the blues were down with the "preformance frames".

No fair, I've never seen an Nsix-one 95 at sports authority, all I ever see are oversize frames.
