Roger Federer wins Wimbledon defeating Roddick and Philippoussis along the way.

Philippoussis had a great run, but Federer was just too good on this day.

Hopefully this is just the beginning for Federer and we will see him win many more slams in the future.

Congrats to Roger Federer on winning the 2003 Wimbledon! His wonderful grass court play was reminiscent of Pete Sampras (sorry TC ) and Stefan Edberg at their best on grass courts!

And as for TC's remark about Andy Roddick and Mark Philippoussis being 2 "brainless big-servers", that's cold! But Roddick's brain is in the process of being taken over by his coach Brad Gilbert. And when his tennis brain transformation is complete, watch out for Roddick!

Oh and TC, it's so nice to see your alluring eyelash batting avatar again! I had forgotten all about it.

Congrats to Mark for overcoming the devastating knee injuries to become the 2003 Wimbledon finalst. He played the most dramatic matches of the tournament. But unfotunately all of those long and tough matches took too much out of him

Let's see Federer play well at the other 3 grand slams. He is considered to be the most talented tennis player in the world. Let's see him play well for a lenthy period of time. When Marat Safin was considered the next great player in 2000, he crumbled. And when Lleyton Hewitt was considered the next great player, he played too up and down to be a great player. What will Federer do in the next year or two? Your guess is as good as mine.

I don't know, seeing recorded reactions of people who actually watched the guy win his 1st slam , this forum has probably seen 16 years since he has been a contender for winning it all. But to see that there was a time he hadn't won everything and how people reacted to his first win is something different.

I am not going to ask how old you are but this is something most of us saw play out live.

I am in my mid 20s didn't see it happen live so it was interesting for me, I guess there must be fans who weren't there when Federer won.

I thought maybe this would be a good gesture towards the fanbase but well if y'all ain't ready to take it so what can I do.

I’m old enough, but wasn’t a huge tennis fan back then. Like many, I became one because of Federer! Assumed we could all go out and play like him! (That ended well…)
