Pat Rafter has declared Novak Djokovic to be the greatest tennis player of all-time, and believes the “unique” Nick Kyrgios can again rise up the rankings – if he wants to.

Former world No.1 Rafter said there could no longer be any doubting that 36-year-old Djokovic, who on Monday morning (AEST) won his 24th grand slam singles title with a straight sets win in the US Open final over Daniil Medvedev, was the sport’s best ever player,

The Serbian is now level with Margaret Court in terms of grand slam singles titles win, and is two ahead of Spanish great Rafa Nadal and four clear of retired Swiss legend Roger Federer.

Djokovic also leads Nadal 30-29 in matches against each other, and has a 27-23 head-to-head advantage over Federer.

“To me, (with) 24 (grand slam singles titles), it’s pretty evident that he’s best player of all-time,” Rafter said of Djokovic on Friday at the announcement that the Brisbane International would return to the Queensland Tennis Centre this summer.

“He’s got the record and he’s probably got the best win-loss record against all the players against each other as well, and against the other top players.”
