Anyone played any tennis at the Peter Burwash International tennis program on Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, GA? It is rated pretty highly by Tennis Resorts Online dot com but there really is no commentary / description of the program anywhere that i can find and the PBI site seems a bit dated / not kept up.
Any commentary / opinions on the offerings (especially clinics and such), level of players there, your experiences would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I've stayed at the Ritz there. It was nice. Not over the top, but what you'd expect from a Ritz. I didn't play tennis and I could not even see the courts from the hotel or the road. I'm sure the instruction is great if you want to take a lesson, but I doubt the clinics are full. Wish I could tell you more. Reynolds Plantation is not bad, but I would not travel a great distance to vacation there. Other than the Ritz, there is not much, and other than the lake there is not much to do aside from golf and tennis. If you're looking for tennis, I'd go to Hilton Head or Florida instead. If you want tennis and some other activities, I'd pick the Grove Park Inn in Asheville over Reynolds Plantation.

Thanks Z-Man. Florida is further than we want to go for this trip and we spend a fair amount of time in SC as is. So this is what we came up with. Though the Grove Park Inn sounds like an idea - have to check that out. Just frustrating that there is so little info out there on this PBI tennis location at Reynolds plantation but it is pretty well rated from tennisresortsonlinedotcom

Tennis at Reynolds Plantation

While I am sure you would rather have someone who can rate the tennis program we have here, it appears that you might just want some information. So I will just provide you with some factual information and let those who have been here do the rating.

We are located approximately half way between Atlanta and Augusta (about 75 miles from each). We are a large community that 15 tennis courts, 3 pickle ball courts, 2 bocce ball courts, 6 golf courses, 6 swimming pools, multiple fitness centers and of course all the other amenities that the Ritz-Carlton Lodge has to offer. The Ritz is about 1/4 mile from the Lake Club Tennis center that has 8 courts located there with 4 Hydro-court clay courts and 4 Plexicushion hard courts. Two of the Hydro's are stadium sized with stadium seating for over 300. We share and allow the Ritz guest to use the member driven facility and we have our own tennis concierge for game and player match-ups.

At the facility we also have a Playmate computerized ball machine, a fully stocked pro shop, the Dartfish Video/computer game analysis, over 40 new demo racquets, restringing service and lots of members to match you up with. Popular with many ALTA teams are our Tennis for Life Weekend Get-a-way clinics.

Options to stay include the Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Luxury Condos and Cottages at Reynolds Plantation and exquisite hotel rooms at the Landing at Reynolds Plantation. I hope this helps a little bit.

Best of luck with your tennis vacation search.

I have not played there in years, but it was nice at the time. GPI has hard courts, which I'm not a fan of, but they do have indoor courts, which could save the day if it rains. The tennis might be better at Reynolds plantation--at least they have clay. I just threw GPI out there because there is lots to do in that area besides tennis. There is not as much to do at Reynolds, but if you're all about tennis, it might be the place.

Hey, contact me if you would like to have a Coach come and visit to do a rating for your facility. I do some writing, along with coaching and don't live too far away.

Come on out

Come on out. Just give me a heads up so that I can get you through the gate and I can show you around a little. We are really growing and lots of tennis players here to match them up for a good game.
