Places to play in San Jose, Costa Rica?

I'm going down to San Jose, Costa Rica for a week and haven't really been able to find a place to play tennis. I know there is a tennis club by the park La Sabana, but apparently it's only open to members and they won't allow guests at all (even if we pay a daily rate). The only other place I know is Hotel Barcelo, but the courts are in pretty poor condition.

Anybody know any courts in San Jose, preferably ones which I can hire a pro to hit with for a few hours? If anybody knows of any clay courts down there, I'd be your best friend forever! Muchas gracias!

This Costa Rica hotel does seem interesting. Very inexpensive and I can actually find available seets using airline miles, (unlike many other locations).

Anybody else have any information on this San Jose Hotel and Tennis Club's tennis programs? They have a lot of courts, but I haven't been able to find out what they offer after pages of googling.

All I see are descriptions of the hotel and facilities. I called reservations, but they had nothing to say about it. I sent an email to the hotel and will see if I get any response.

i may go down to san jose this summer and was also wondering about tennis possibilities. can anyone shed any light on this? are there clay courts down there too? do you have to be a hotel guest to use the courts generally?

I was at the tennis club near La Sabana in January, and you can play there. They have about 15 hard courts, plus walls, swimming pools, and basketball court.

I have played tennis in San Jose, so it is possible :)

However I was younger and staying with relatives so I will get an email to them asking where it was and if its still open. It was a little seedy but nonetheless nice hard courts.
