Try this...
1. Place the racquet on the edge of any table and push it until it starts to tip off the edge. The grip will be hanging off the edge of the table.
2. Mark the racquet at that point (where it meets the table edge).
3. Then, take your 9 grams of lead (36" total) cut into (4) 9" long strips and place them on the strings... at approximately the same location you'll ultimately end up sticking them... do not stick the lead to the frame! There will be (2) 9" lead strips at approximately 9/3.
4. Now, again... place the racquet back on the table edge and slide it until it starts to tip. You'll note the tipping point no longer lines up with the mark you made previously (because the racquet balance has changed from the lead laying on the strings).
5. Next, slide the racquet so the original mark is even with the edge of the table. Again, you'll note the frame isn't inclined to tip as it did prior to laying the lead on the strings.
6. Cut strips of lead in specific lengths (you'll need approximately 36" for the handle to maintain the original balance). If all lead is at the very end near the butt cap... it will take less than 36". If it's distributed along the handle it will require approximately 36".
7. Now, lay these strips on the handle (again, don't attach it, yet!) where you're interested in placing them, permanently.
8. After placing a certain amount of lead on the handle, the racquet will again start to tip off the edge of the table.
9. That's where the weight needs to go. Make a mark or mental note where all lead should be placed and stick it to the frame/handle pallet.
Note:
** It doesn't need to be perfect.
** Adding approximately 0.5 oz. (14-15 grams) of lead in the head or handle will change the balance by 3 points. So, there is some room for a small amount of error.
