POG vs Graphite Pro

What do you think? I play with the Graphite Pro Series 110 (without crossbar) and I love the flex of it. I just ordered a Series 90 to see if I'll like it too, with the added maneuverability.

I've read that the Original Graphite (green stripe with crossbar), as sold by TW, are stiffer. Are they? And besides stiffness, do they play better or just the same? Anyone played with POG AND Graphite Pro? Thanks.

(Not sure if this belongs solely to the classic racquet thread, since TW currently sells the POG. Sorry if it's the case.)

I'd toss it over to the classics thread.

I haven't played the Graphite Pro 110 much. I have one and I strung it up with Wilson SGX 16. It's ok, but I never really clicked with it. It is really soft and very comfortable. I have seen specs of 49 flex.. The 90s are stiffer than the 110s. The POGs are stiffer than the Pros. The newer POGs are not foam filled.

I like the Pro Series 90 much better than the 110. It plays great. I used them for a few months this spring. Lots of spin, great feel, eats strings. Not as directionally accurate for me as a POG - maybe the longer dwell time? I liked it more than the POG in the winter when the balls were a bit stiffer and beat me up. Come summer I hit with the POG more.

Your Pro 110 has around a 49 flex
A Pro 90 is low 50s - never seen the actual, but that's how it feels.
POG 110 is 62 - although the next version looks like it will be 65
POG 90 is 66

Thanks a lot Jonestim, 2 questions for you:

1: Does the Graphite Pro 90 lack power and plow-through (as some say)?

2: Do you feel that the POG oversize that TW currently sells, with a flex of 63, is still more arm-friendly than many modern racquets with the same flex rating?

Thanks again.

1. Flex does give it lower power, but the weight/SW keeps it reasonable. One of mine is 363 grams strung with OG. It will be lower powered than your 110.

2. I demoed the current Tour OS version before I owned any so I can't recall. I have three other versions, but they are all more head light than the current one. It seems like it would be more arm friendly than other 63 racquets just because of the weight and softness of the stringbed due to the sheer size of it. The next version - out in a few weeks - is a bit more head light, lower swingweight, and racquetfinder says 65 stiffness. Other than the flex, I would like those specs better. My guess is that it will be more expensive than the current version as well.

Specs are all over the place with the Graphite Pro. I have two 110, and there's a 15 grams difference between them.

I'M about to order the POG mid. I just hope it won't be too stiif. I'm used to play with a six one 95 (16x18), what do you guys think I should expect?

I have both models on the way (Graphite Pro 90 and POG mid). I'll probably keep the more comfortable one. Unless there is a big difference in playability.

Just canceled my order of a POG mid. Instead I found another Graphite Pro 90 for cheap on the auction site. I can't get around the idea of playing with a stiff racquet, even if it's not so stiff by today's standards. My arm is too sensitive. Maybe I'll try the POG oversize, which is supposed to be very arm-friendly, but I'll try my 90s first.
