Poly mains notching before synthetic gut crosses..

I just noticed the same thing happened in my racquet.

Have you figured out why it's happening? Just the particular poly?

notching always happens on the mains. notching happens because the mains keeps sliding up and down forcibly on the crosses at the same slot. synthentic string usually would fray due to mains sliding it on back and forth. So depending on the quality of your poly vs synthetic, mains die or snaps due to notching, or crosses frays and breaks.

I fully agree.
The string that moves the most, will notch the most.
Usually, mains move the most so it notches the most.
This is especially true for heavy topspin hitters.
Mains can also fray due to repeated string/ball impact.

Crosses, on the other hand, do not move much so they don't get notched.
They just fray due to repeated string/ball impact and the mains rubbing/sliding on them.

Change to a smoother sliding cross string, so you don't notch the mains.
Change to a harder casing main, so it doesn't abrade.
