pre-stretch (poly's)?

are you suppose to "pre-stretch" poly's? i've heard mixed reactions but if so, for how long, is there a certain way to do so specifically?

poly's lose tension really fast regardless but i was just curious if you were "suppose" to do so or not.

thanks for any insight

If you want to get rid of coil memory, yes.
You don't need to. You don't actually need to pre-stretch with any string.

Pre-stretching polys does not do anything...the only thing it can do is create weak points and cause the string to snap...I wouldnt reccomend doing it.

Chemically, polyester strings have only a small window of elasticity (they can stretch a little (with significant resistance), but cannot recover once over stretched because the physical chains actually break and cannot recover. Thus, if you prestrech much above 65, the poly will lose any elasticity and play dead (but tight).
