Agree with fantom, lighter than I expected and the power level is higher than the POG MP and OS.

Alex and guys,

Good find!

I am going to talk with my Prince rep to see if those are correct. It's quite possible they are???

When I talked to a friend who is a Prince rep last he said they were not completely certian what the final specs on the Tour o3 were going to be. I'll check with him to get the latest.

Also, I hit with this frame in January. I took my PRTi along with to compare. The racquets felt much closer in weight than what your info indicates. My PRTi is around 12.8 ounces. The Tour o3 felt smooth in my hand and did not feel much lighter or more powerful than my PRTi. A lot of similarities.

I'll see what I can find out and get back.

Thanks!

those specs sound about right. I hit with this frame for a week and swingweight and weight look about right. The racquet is too light, and if you have any muscle, you will waste so much energy for nothing swinging this stick. Swingweight just feels wrong. And finally, the MSRP of over $200 is a joke.

I love Prince, but this frame is not a "player's" frame IMO.

Not saying I know for sure, but according to what my friend (******* Prince rep) just told me they are still not completely sure what the final specs will be when the Tour o3 is released in May. In an e-mail yesterday he claimed that the racquet specs will be close to this:

RA = 67
SW = 311
BAL = 31 cm
WT = 12.3 oz strung
length = 27 in
head size = Mid Plus (that's all he said)

He also said that this is similar to the "experimental" tour 03 that I hit with in January (this frame was heavier than 10.9 oz - I'm gussing around 12oz). He said that there have been some experimental demos out that vary in composition.

This frame is suppose to be a "players" frame and will be similar, if not the same, as to what Coria is using. So I hope what they release has some substance and weight to it.

We'll see...

I don't know what the final word will be about the 03's, but my rep took the Silver version and smacked it on the floor at the 3 o'clock position...and I mean he really gave it a whack. He said it's been done at least 2 dozen times and no cracks. I'd dare any other manufacturer to do that!

I guess there's something to be said for Prince's 2 piece construction.

I don't believe the O3 is constructed using Prince's two-piece construction. At least, I haven't seen anything in the literature claiming so.

It seems quite a few are looking for the New TOUR O3 to come out in Spring.
Has anyone demoed the Original O3 NOT THE TOUR O3?
I tried it for the first time last night and was really surprised how well it played. How does it hold up to returning heavy balls on service returns and ground stokes? For being such a light racket I thought it had good power. What level do you play and what do you think are it's positives and negatives?
Why would a racket that looks and feels like you could buy it at Wal Mart cost so much?
Any feedback good or bad would be appriciated.
THANKS

Hi Greg,

My rep said that the frames are 2 piece, hence the strength. No holes drilled to weaken the graphite fibers.

Regardless, that was a very impressive demonstration.

My son got a demo as part of the sponsorship program - Prince wants all juniors to switch to it. I tried it as well and here is what I think (very close to what my son thought as well).

Very head light, 1 or 2 points lighter than POG. Very crisp feel, great control, volleys are out of this world. Groundstrokes don't have much meat, though, it just does not generate the solid shots. Almost impossible to produce a powerful serve. Keep in mind that adding 20 g to handle and racquet head (to preserve the same balance point) did not change the feel at all! All in all it felt like a great frame lacking the power elements that are absoulutely necessary in today's game.
We're going to ship it back, and my son will stay with POG OS, which he absolutely loves.

As far as I know, specs aren't set. Racquets generally have a code on the inside of the throat. These numbers correspond to a specific set up. Prince will come up with racquet specs that are close, but one might be more flexible/stiff, more Headlight / head heavy.

As far as the guy posting the pics and putting the frame up for sale on ****, well, don't think Prince will be to pleased. When the frame is released, I would be more than happy to share my playtest, but not until then.
