Pro Staff Classic 6.1 "85"???

Back in the mid 90's I had a chance to hit with former WTA player Marianne Werdell's (Whitmeyer) PS Classic 6.1 85". Yes, I said 85". I was wondering if anyone else has ever seen or hit with these and more importantly knows where I can get a couple.

I am more than reasonably sure they weren't PS 6.0's PJ either since they had that "cut out" area at the throat/bridge like the 6.1's. Also, they were closer to 20-21mm.

You are correct in that the 6.1 85 isn't a paintjob of a Pro Staff Original, and as I recall, is 21mm like the 95. Grabb and Dent were a couple of other users, at least for a short while, and Graf (7.0/7.5/7.1(?) cosmetics) also used it as far as I could tell. I had one of Graf's "7.0" 's, and her frames were even 18x20 and had some neat blue leather grips. The 85's used to come up on e*ay every now and then, but it seems the few that are out there have settled into collectors' hands. It'd be your best bet to keep checking though.

i've hit with one in 1995?, it was also a tour pro's, nice racket, i would have played with it rather than the 95 if it had been available.

Yes, it's a quite rare frame, much like trying to get a Snauwaert Hi-Ten series frame.

I've seen the 6.1 paintjob on a 6.0 85 and I think there's a picture of a real 6.1 85 on these boards somewhere....

I have the 85 sq in version of the Graf 7.0, which close to impossible to find. PrestigeClassic is correct, This collector paid dearly to get it and is like Charleton Heston's NRA-approved weapon - it will have to be pried from my cold dead hands.

I also have several Pro Staff cCassic Tour 6.6 85s (briefly used by Courier) which also were not Pro Staff midsize 85 PJs. These racquets are actually not too hard to find at a reasonble price.
