Pro Tour, Aero Pro Drive, Pure Storm and DNX 10 mid

I demoed these 4 today. The Pure Storm made the best impression to start out with. It felt fairly natural off both wings. Good pace and spin on both sides. The Pro Tour was similar to the Pure Storm, almost as good but just a little bit too light. It also didn't seem to be quite a spin friendly. The thing I really didn't like was the square handle and the stupid sticker in the throat that peels off.

The Aero Pro seemed to have a little bit of a higher swing weight, and the balance felt like it would be better for a two handed backhand. I kept getting too much spin on my one hander and balls were dipping into the net. The forehand was good. Not sure if it was better than the Pure Storm or not, but I liked the forehand. I think if I had a two handed backhand I would spend some more time with this frame and see how I liked it.

The DNX 10 mid seemed like the biggest disappointment. It was the most similar to my current frame, RDX 500 mid, but it just didn't seem to be nearly as good. The weight and balance seemed fine, but the shape of the head didn't make a lot of sense to me. It was longer and more narrow than the RDX. It was pretty tough to hit big topspin compared to the RDX. For flat shots the DNX 10 was good. I like to play angles and a lot of the shots I went for hit the frame sides. I thought the silver strips made the frame look thinner, but when I compared it next to the RDX, it was definitely more narrow.

So my take is the Pure Storm seems like a definite maybe. I think I might like it better than my RDX 500, but I want to hit with it some more. I broke the strings on it after about an hour of hitting and I went through the other three twice. I ended up sticking with the Pro Tour for the rest of the evening, but the Storm was easily the favorite. I'm going to restring it with my regular poly and see what it's like. If it continues to play this well I'll probably pick up a pair.

Oh I also demoed the Pure Control a week ago, and the Pure Storm seems like it has more control to me.
