Racquet to replace Yonex R22??

Hey I started using the R22 recently and I absolutly love it. I found one in a garage and the other I bought used online. I have absolutly no complaints about this racquet except the fact that it is discontinued...

Today, while serving, the R22 that I bought online flew out of my hand and cracked. I can no longer use it.

R22s are becoming increasingly harder to find in good condition online, and in addition to that, I would appreciate having a racquet with no previous owners. I can't buy a new R22, so I was hoping everyone could recommend a few simularly awesome frames that are still in production that I could demo. I am mainly looking for the feel and playability.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate this.

Oh, and if it helps, I am a 4.0 Boys player who plays teams and high school tennis.

If you like R22, why not try to find a load and hoard them? :)
haha in a more serious note, if I was in your situation, I'd just find R-22s.

Also, try Rx-32 which are deemed to play similar but better than R-22. I have one for sale (I think it's a great racket but not my cup of tea). Although this one's not in production, worth trying out.

I would love to hoard all the R22's, but theyre getting hard to find in sizes anywhere near my grip size. My size is 4 1/2" and there were two that I could find online. They were both from the same vendor so I purchased one. I just requested the one in the best condition, and it still wasnt in satasfactory condition, IMO. Then when it broke, I realized that my obsession for this racquet cannot possibly be fueled forever, so I want to get a sturdy, easily replacable racqet that plays "almost as well" as the R22.

I'm sorry that I can't help you, and maybe this isn't what you want to hear...
But you might be better off looking at another racquet...
So if you want to tell me a bit more about your playing style, what strings you're using and what tension, I might be able to help you out...

haha actually yes, that was EXACTLY what I wanted to hear. =] I want to find another racquet that plays like the R22, but is currently in production and easy to replace.

I am having trouble describing exactly my playing style... I guess you would say I am a defensive baseliner, but I often go on the offensive from the baseline.

And to be honest, I haven't tried many strings on the R22-- the one that cracked had Gamma TNT2 Fusion Plus 19 strung at 52 lbs. But the other racquet that I found in the garage hasn't been restrung since I found it, so I have no idea what the string or tension is =/

But hey, Im open to any suggestion, so I really appreciate your help.

no the phonies who banned me have been making "NEW" sweatshop technology and pushing it on the market for well over a decade. In talks with the man who brought Lendl to this country through slipping him a phone number between commie biatchslaps;
I found out the secret history of the Yoneyama family (his kids) and the isometric secrets which were taken and then brought back to this land. I now need to start this vintage midsize revolution.
Why is "Bud" the only one with me????? Maybe I got Tennis man on my team too, I know he's a true player, and a rackaholic like us.
Best believe they didn't ban me for the racquets I donated around the time I was banned....what a bunch of phony dishonest (5.0) salesman!!!
so long story short, nothing but an r 22 plays like that strativarius...nothing.

Haha thanks Plasma. I wish I could be a "rackaholic" but my wallet wont let me... Im definatly a believer in the vintage revolution, but times are tough...

I realize that I wont find anything as good, and I know "they dont make 'em like they used to" but there will come a time when I wont be able to find any R22s in my grip size and when that day comes I'll need a back up plan.

Can someone atleast measure the stiffness and the swingweight of the R22 and let me know what it is, so I know where to start?

thanks

If you don't want such a stiff frame, you might have SLIGHTLY better luck trying to chase down an ol' RDX500...
DAS2011, What was it about the R22 that you liked so much?
Was it the feel, that smooth buttery feel that u get from a flexy frame?? Give me as much info as you can...
What headsize was the R22? I've never seen one...

umm, the feel was a big part oof why I loved it so much, but I also like the balance of power and control. it just seems like I can hit my balls so much harder, with so much more spin, and get them so much closer to the tape. its hard to explain.

and the head size is 90 square inches

Well, I still love the R22, but I seriously need to find a comparable racquet tat is still in production. It is frusterating to know that I will never own a brand new version of the racquet that I love, so I just want to find a new model that is in production and could be easily replaced wth a brand new stick.

I tend to have bad luck wih tennis racquets... so I am anticipating the need to replace in the next year, and I dont want to but used again.

so to answet your question, Not really, but I appreciate it =)

What are the models are you looking at? Anyway, a nice used R22 is dirt cheap. You can collect 6 to 7 of them (that would last for a few years) for about the same price of a new modern racket.

Good luck in your search.

I could buy several used ones for cheap... but I really hate buying used equipment, and I've been shafted before....
as far as their durability goes, my experiences seem tell me that they are quite fragile...
