Racquets go on sale by season or year?

I was wondering, when is it usual for racquet companies to start last “minute sale” in their current racquet range?
And also, is it determined by companies like Wilson, head, and so on, or the selling surfaces like TW also have a say in this?
Specifically I was wondering when will the exo3 tour 100 be on sale. In TW Europe the exo3 black is already on sale, but not the tour100 which I believe is a model for 2012.
The biommimetic line of the dunlops, seems to me, was not as popular as other series, and is already on sale for quite some time. Obvious case going to the bio100, in a general consensus, me included, the 4d100 was a better frame than its newer brother.

Other frames just suffer from not being popular, example: the juice pro that was to be endorsed by delpo, (and ended up by not being, the guy just loves his K95’s)stared at one price, and when considerably lower not even being on sale price… and this one seems to be a very fine frame.

So question is, exo3 tour 100, on sale… maybe later this year, or can I hope to get it a little sooner?
I still scavenge the classified European threads and the big auction site, but getting a 16x18 in L2 gip is proving to be scarce…

exo Black is discontinued, so it went on sale. Exo tour 100 not discontinued, no sale. As Prince has been in some disarray lately, product timing cycles may be harder to predict. Also, whether and when something goes on sale is also dictated by how much inventory happens to be on hand, sales being more likely when inventory is high.

To get things on sale means you have to tarry in the marketplace, but find out what month a racquet was released and start looking around twenty months from that date.

I think that racquets go on sale when: 1) a model is not selling well; or 2) a replacement model is about to hit the market. In the case of Prince, the Exo Graphite 100 was discounted shortly after it was released - I suspect that it just wasn't selling. In the case of the Tour 100, just before the release of this racquet, the predecessor, the Ozone Tour MP was reduced to around $80. The Ozone was available for several months at that price - a real bargain. I've also seen TW run Prince promotions in the past where you can get a % reduction on the purchase of Prince products including racquets. The % discount increases as you spend more money.

Given that Prince is just going through a reorganization, its difficult to speculate what the timing might be on new product releases or if they have enough inventory to run any promotions on current stuff.

Yes certainly when a new model comes out, older products go on sale.
Bartelby’s time frame of 20 months might actually be right on for prince to start thinking of a replacement for its tour 100. I guess I just got a little carried away because of the big 3 (Wilson, head and babolat) all pushing new models into the 2012 market. Especially Wilson and head that almost made a complete new line up of frames right along with brand new additions to their line up – pro staff blx 95, juice and the steam at one end, and the new “S” models in the new Ig radical, prestiges and speeds.
Not being the most popular frame, I suppose the exo3 tour 100 is selling well enough not to get on sale anytime soon

Soon….

Ohh well

Here in Portugal, chain store Sportz**e is selling the team version for 80 or 90 €, but they don’t carry the tour version unfortunately. :?
