Racquets with a longer gripping area

Hi all,

Been playing with the Head graphene 360+ speed mp. I've been finding it's a little too light but the biggest problem is not having enough room for my top hand to find bevels when hitting my two-hander. Any recommendations for a brand/Model that has a longer handle? My Blade Pros were a little better but not by much. My RF 85s are a little longer but I don't usually play matches with them.

Any help appreciated!

Yea, thought about going back to the xl pure aero I played with back in the day. Played with Yonex off and on and the butt caps lack of flare always ends up bothering me.

Thanks for the suggestions^

Yonex is definitely good for extra grip without having to go to an extended frame. Go the Stan Wawrinka route and wrap narrow medical tape around the bottom of the grip to increase flare. My dude @RudyHuxtable folds his overgrip in half for the first wrap around the grip and then lets it naturally flatten back out. Same effect.

Pro Labs Six.One 95 has a long handle compared to other Wilson's. Whilst its not all tapered pallet (long graphite throat), I do find it comfortable for the 2HBH. Like you this is something that bothers me about some frames

I havnt looked at the recent release 100 head size, but suspect you may find similar comfort if the 95 isnt your thing

Folding of the overgrip is an interesting thought! I usually add leather grip which makes non stock leather grip racquets more HL and don't want to add too much additional mass to the buttcap with medical tape but I'm sure it's an undetectable difference.

Yes, I don't know why they can't make them 1 inch, heck even one cm longer. My hands are only a size L in gloves.

You'd think more manufacturers would make them longer. The announcers at the Cincinnati tournament just said that only 1 woman in the top 100, and 14 men in the top 100, use a 1-handed backhand.

Easy fix: replace the butt cap w/ a Wilson. You can even go up a size to give it even more flare. And as a bonus, the Yonex trap door fits into the Wilson butt cap.

Thanks for reminding me!

I used to replace the Wilson rounded buttcaps with either pro staff or Babolat butt caps and am not sure why I never thought to do the same on my duel Gs or a future Yonex. I guess maybe I thought the grip shapes wouldn't match or I have done it and can't remember! Either way I was just disappointed with my vcore duel g 300 when I cut it open to find that it was hollow and super cheap looking inside. I lost my mojo with it!

At least Yonex Vcores and Ezones have pretty long handles, well enough for all double handers. And those who miss more flare in the butt cap, and who use overgrips, try the technique presented in the video below. It really did it for me. And another great thing about it is you don't need scissors but can change the grip on the fly anywhere. Folding the grip like this creates more flare.

Think a head buttcap would fit on a Yonex? Obviously, I would get same size grips. Thanks!

Thanks McLovin! I just ordered some extra head buttcaps in preparation for another Yonex run!
So I just stepped to my basement and found the Head butt cap. It fits, although it is a bit tight. I had to gently tap the racquet on the floor to get it all the way.

I’ll post a pic tomorrow. Note the trap door is not interchangeable.
Note: just saw your other thread. I’ll post this over there.

Your best bet is a longer racket or adding some polyurethane foam to the pallet up front and shaping more bevels.

Looks great. This is good stuff for me now and others in the future with the same question. Thanks again.

The Prince rackets have longer handles suitable for 2 handers. IIRC, even Tecnifibre has a longer handle than Head/Wilson.
