I have been a soccer fan for 20 years, dating back to the 1998 WC (which I watched in German pubs as an exchange student in Wuerzburg).
Anyway, how would the football experts rank the best World Cup teams over the past 20 years.
Keep in mind that a team may qualify as top 5 without having won a tournament (The 2010 Germany team comes to mind here that was rolling over people before losing a close match to eventual champ Spain).
My votes:
1. Brazil 2002 (absurdly loaded team with Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos, etc.)
2. France 1998 (had home field advantage at this tournament but had great players like Zidane and Henry).
3. Spain 2010 (boring as heck to watch but highly effective).
4. Germany 2010 (better than the 2014 side that actually won the whole thing).
5. France 2018 (I think the competition was weak this year on the whole but they looked good at least in their wins).
Honorable Mention: England 2002 (maybe best England team over this time period)?
