Re-using crosses with one piece string job

This is a side benefit of a one piece string job assuming the crosses don't have much wear after the mains break. I have been able to save the crosses along with a few mains on the sides to use as crosses on the next 2-piece string job. Anyone else doing this to save strings ($$)?

Absolutely brilliant idea Bruno! Why haven't I thought of this???

Oh yah... now I remember...BECAUSE THE STRINGS will be stretched badly, partially notched and will have lost most of their elasticity. Other than offering terrible playability, a dead stringbed and no on-court advantages, it will of course save me about $5.00. That is if I don't decide to cut it out because playability suffers so badly. In that case I will have wasted a half set of good string and I will be out money in the long run.

Yeah, you're not going to get a lot of folks supporting this here. But I suppose if you had a full job of $35 natural gut, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to reuse the gut crosses with a CHEAP main string, perhaps for a backup racquet. For anything else, it would be a waste of money.
