Recent Forehand Video (yes, another one)

Thanks for taking the time to view this thread of mine.

Anyway, a long while ago, I posted this forehand video for critique and got some awesome feedback.

I made another video from a different angle, and against an actual human being this time around. There are a few clips of my forehand in slow motion towards the end that I included for an enhanced look at my split-step/footwork/weight transfer.

Btw, I'm a self-rated 2.75. Then again, I'm also a self-deprecating cynic.

Here's the link. I sincerely appreciate all of your feedback.

The one 2hbh I see you hit in this vid makes me wonder if you got your priorities right. Your forehand looks pretty good imo, but the backhand I saw you hit looked really shaky. Instead of focussing so much on the forehand and constantly running around the backhand, I'd suggest you to work on the backhand. Other than that, nice forehand!

I appreciate your positive critique of my forehand. I have a lot more confidence in it now that i've been focusing on it.

I actually consider my backhand to be my strength. Maybe I should reconsider? I was running around backhands, so that I had more opportunities to record my forehand. Sometimes, i'll actually run around my forehand to hit an inside-out backhand. I looped that backhand (the one that actually made I over the net) back to my hitting partner, so that he could feed me more forehands.

I'll post a backhand vid as soon as I'm feeling better. I can usually drive the crap out of my backhand! Then again, maybe it's time to work on it. You obviously saw something that I did not. And so the analysis begins again...

When you are moving forward for a low ball, you need to get lower. I find that it is helpful to think of putting your front (non-hitting hand) at height where you expect to hit the ball - that way, you are using a level stroke.

@Nellie- Thanks for the tip. I can visualize how getting my left arm lower would help lower my body altogether. I already use my left arm as a sort o aiming reticle, so that should be a quick fix!

hey, nice smooth strokes, good stuff

i have just remodelled my FH, my follow through is not as smooth and nice as yours

one thing i noticed, is you have a pause a the top of the back swing, the experts can say if this impacts the stroke, but intuitively i reckon it does. If you went form the unit turn, straight into the swing without a pause, i reckon you will get gravity acting on the racket drop more and a bit more racket head speed.

Also try loading up a bit more, your regular shot looks sound and solid, i reckon loading up a bit more will get you extra pop without too much effort.

good stuff

@ProgressoR- Nice to know that I'm not the only one who's been doing a bit of remodeling. You're too correct about my takeback. I focus on setting up so early that I definitely do pause a bit. It's natural for me to drop my racket into contact on the backhand, but not quite as much on the forehand. For sure, something to work on.

Also, I can see that I'm not loading or sitting as much as I could before driving up and through the ball. It's something I've been trying to work on, but once again it's not so natural on that side. Thanks for calling me out on that.

hey Quikj, no problem, just pointing out the exact things i have been working on.

loading makes a huge difference, you will feel access to more power, it doesnt mean you want to blast 100mph winners all the time, it means your average rally ball is just so much more relaxed, I am just feeling this now, your upper body is already smooth (mine wasnt) so i reckon with a little loading you will enjoy the improvement. Just note to make it gradual, dont go for killer shots with loading, just make it a natural part of your shot.
