Recommend a racquet to replace my old Yonex RQ Ti 1700MP

I have been using my old Yonex Ultimum RQ Ti 1700MP for years, and love the feeling so much. However, as my racquet starts to show wear and tear, I find it is hard to find another replica with the right grip size. I was just wondering if someone can recommend me a racquet close it.

I am not a power hitter, and stay at baseline most of time. My game is a combination of topspin and flat shot, and I like to work on the placement more than power. I actually feel 1700MP is a dream racquet for my forehand groundstroke. Unbeatable control, easy to generate spin, also good in serve. The only complaint, if any, is for my 2HBH. When I move half step slow or fail to finish a full swing on my backhand, the ball goes to net most of time. So I guess a little bit more pace on the racquet might be a plus.

I tried several racquets, but none of them fits my game as Yonex 1700 does. Hornet MP saves my backhand, but loses some spin potential. Yonex Super RQ Ti 700 is a close one with more power and more forgiving, but I lost my feeling on serve and slice, and it also feels a little bit more powerful than needed. I tried Prostaff 6.0 85, terrific control, but too tired to play at the third set.

Any comments is very appreciated.

Take your Hornet MP and put 28-55 grams of weight inside the handle using fishing weights. Then put lead tape at 3 and 9 too adjust to the characteristics you want. You will end up with a 7-10 pt head light, 304-325 gram racquet with a lot spin potential. String at the lower end of the tension range to regain some power or go tight for control.

jay-z, have you tried the Dunlop 300G OS? I tried the 1700 and never found a Yonex racquet like it, tried the Ti 700 and MP-5HS.

Thanks for the nice the suggestions. Customize racquet is a skill I definitely want to try to add my tennis skills. And now I can start with my Hornet MP, which I almost threw it. Too bad Yonex always makes their racquet discontinued, and replaces with totally new and different ones. Even though I do admit they make excellent racquet, but this bad habit makes people getting used to the feeling of certain racquet really frustrated. Maybe it is a better idea to switch to Dunlop line, if I feel good with 300G.

BTW, if I want to add a little more pace and power on my old Ti 1700, is it a good idea to put some lead tape, say 6 grams, on 3/9 clock position? Do I need to add another 6 grams inside the bottom cap to even out the balance? Also, how can I take off the bottom cap from a Yonex racquet, I know it is easy for Prince racquet, but it seems the Yonex cap is stick to the grip firmly.

I've heard that the RDX 300 is very similar playing racquet as the URQ 1700 MP with more control (b/c it's a 1/4 inch shorter). Martina Hingis uses the RDX 300 MP, and she's still playing awesome tennis. She kicked butt at World Team Tennis this year beating several current WTA players easily. Give it a demo!
