Right side/left side of mounted racquet

I was looking at some Head racquetball racquet stringing instructions and they refer to the "right" and "left" side of the racquet when stringing the mains. I never noticed or cared about it before and my string jobs on these Head racquets come out fine.

After mounting the racquet, how do you determine which side is the "right" and which side is the "left"

I gather, it depends on where you stand, which way the head or throat of the racquet is pointing at the tensioner and if the labeling is upside down or rightside up.

Anyone have any idea on the correct way to determine which side is which on a racquet?

I know, some racquetball racquets are just weird ....LOL

Most rackets are bilaterally symetrical, with the exception of Prince O-ports and Wilson rollers. It really does not matter which side is Left or Right, especially on Head rackets that are usually strung two piece. If I see a cross tie off grommet worn I will start my corsses on the other side or flip it over so I tie off at the other side tie off.

Usually when they speak of left and right they are talking about the left side and right side of the racket as you look at it from the throat to the head. Most rackets are symmetrical and it does not matter unless you have something like an O ring in the throat. Ten sometime the string from the head on one side go under and over while the other side goes over and under. Some of the Babolat Y racket make a difference too.

USRSA defines left and right as described by Irvin above. On many racquets (especially E-Force) you also have to worry about what side is up or down if you want to follow the instructions exactly. Sometimes it is the side with the model name. Others use the color of the tubes in the throat to define up and down.

In most cases the racquets are symmetrical and it is only important to follow the instructions if you have never done the racquet before.

I believe up/down follows that rule but I doubt it is ever used in stringing.

yeah, actually i got in that habit when i was playing Oport rackets.

i still do it, mostly yet still try to achieve even grommet wear (2 piece, on tie off holes).

I always try to place the logo right side up also. I was stringing a new Prince racket once and the short side ended up on the right. I thought something was wrong when my tie off ended up in the left, I even checked the logo again. But then again if you string 2 piece 50/50 you can't go wrong.
