This is the 2nd straight year Andy Roddick has finished outside the top 5 at #6. Despite his slippage at the elite level I had always thought he was still a top 5 player but maybe I a mistaken. What will Roddick's year end ranking be next year?

I think he will improve to number 4 finishing only behind Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Đoković.

The standards for a top 5 player have changed.

Roddick was a top 5 player, now he has to play his best to give one of them a match. I'll admit, I really enjoy watching him play guys in the top 5 and top 10. If nothing else, you know its going to be an entertaining match. If its not a close match with at least a few tie breaks, you're going to get Federer toying with the guy. Always fun.

I think you also have to give him some credit for sticking around this long and still competing with the same fire he's always had. Most guys that were at the top when he was have dropped out of the picture, other than Federer...

roddick's going to stay in the top 10 for the next few years. he's fit, he's healthy, and he has been playing great. he's very underestimated.

I think that if he does what he did last year and mopes his way through clay court season then he will definitely do worse than he did this year. However, if he trains more towards the hard court season, then he could possibly become 4-6's by the end of next year. Still, hard to say but i agree with MasturB, there are a lot of young people with better all-round games then Roddick out there

Honestly, I think Roddick will be around #8 or #9 by the end of the 2008 season.

I heard the same thing last year.

I love how anytime anyone in the top 10 loses, they're done, and everytime someone wins a tournament, they're the next best thing. I guess that's the beauty of purely reactionary tennis.

He misses too many MS events. I can think of about 3 or 4 off the top of my head. This hurts his ranking more than others in the top ten, he also falls to no. 6 not 26, but as in the tradition of this board let the endless speculation continue!

P.S. as a fan of American tennis, I would like to see the new blood start to make a push next year, Roddick and Blake's best chance to bring some glory home is Davis Cup, but I want to see some GS titles again
