It's going to be at the C o u r t s i d e @ Los Gatos. Anyone going? I will be going for the first time, I heard it's free and you'll get to see Agassi, Roddick, Hewitt practicing.

Holla at a playa when you see me on the street!

I'm not so sure you are going to be able to see anything there. There are 3 indoor courts at the club and they use all three for qualies all day on Saturday. I don't believe that leaves room for spectators. Also, Roddick will be at Davis Cup until Sunday night, and Agassi will have access to the court at the Arena beginning on Sunday. Once the tournament starts, one court is used for doubles matches and chairs are set up on the other for the people who want to watch those. But you never know who you might meet or see if you hang around long enough.

Fee, I have played at the indoor courts at the club and the employees told me that you can actually go in there and watch the practices. My buddy told me that he saw Maliasse, Agassi and Blake at the indoor courts.

I guess you will be at the tournament, also. Do you have any "special access pass" that you could hook me up with? I will reward you financially! All I want to do is meet Lleyton Hewitt, take a picture with him and get my poster signed!

Fee, are you sure the qualifies will be played on the INDOOR COURTS? That's kind of weird considering the courts are so closed to each other! I would imagine the qualies will take place in the smaller courts in the club and the finals will take place in the grand stand. Do you know when the players will start practicing at the club? I am waiting to hear from Jimmy Wang (ATP 87), I am doing an interview with him but he is not sure if he'll be playing the tournament. Anyway I will see you there!

On qualie Saturday for the last couple of years, they use three indoor courts and there has been no public access. Qualie Sunday, there have been four matches on two courts with the middle court used for spectators.

During the week, it is hit and miss with the practice sessions there. ATP rules call for indoor practice facilities for an indoor event. Early in the week, they play the early round doubles there and admission is free.

The qualies are played indoors because the tournament is played indoors. Like I said, if you hang around the club long enough, you never know who you will see, but I don't know how much access you can get to the courts, especially on Sunday and Monday when so many guys need practice time. It seems to change every year anyway. I don't know if I'll be around for qualies, I'm not due in San Jose until Sunday afternoon, and I'm not driving down early unless JMG or Justin is in the final round (and even then I might keep my jinxing presence far away).

im guessing there's no space for spectators at the indoor courts. that's a shame. i go to school at sjsu and i was planning on staying next weekend to watch the qualies at c o u r t s i d e. :(

Go on Sunday, matches start at 11 am. As big serving noted above, they make room for spectators on Sunday (they can't on Saturday because they have to play 24 matches on 3 courts and it takes all day).

Have you heard from Jimmy Wang? He got into the main draw when Novak, Malisse and Beck withdrew. This could turn out to be a very interesting tournament with some of these young guys playing.

Fee,
No, I haven't heard back from Jimmy yet. I have been hitting with his father's friend, who's in town to visit his daughter. I think Jimmy is playing Davis Cup in Taipei at the moment and I hope he'll get back from me very soon!

Hopefully I will be writing up an interview from his box next week!

Aw man, just checked the draw. Tough luck for Jimmy, playing against JB in the first round? GOD DAMNIT!

Yeah, but Jimmy will need A LOT of luck to beat JB.

By the way, I see an upset of Garcia-Lopez over Roddick, what do y'all think?

Depends on the condition Roddick is in when he shows up for the match on Tuesday. Whatever this thing that made him sick today could linger, but I hope it will be gone overnight.

Yeah, it looks like Scoville Jenkins just can't seem to get a break in ATP level main draws. He drew Roddick in the first round at the '04 US Open and now he's drawn Agassi at the SAP Open next Monday. Poor guy just can't seem to get a break. What though luck.

That was some good tennis hittin. The player that impressed me the most was sam querrey. His forehand and serve are huge. He gets nasty spin and angle with his forehand.

mardy fish and jochaim johanson dropped by to watch some of the matches. i got to talk to johansson. he said that he was coming back from two surgeries, and that he had not competed for serveral months.

Scoville Jenkins just got a huge break - Agassi dropped out with a lower back injury.

Meanwhile, I am pissed off. I wanted to see Agassi. You can't complain though, there's still McEnroe, Roddick, Hewitt, and Blake. Hopefully McEnroe wins so we can see a lot of him.
